70% Cabernet Sauvignon 30% Sangiovese. 8 months in french barriques, some previously used to age Sassicaia, but you already knew that of course...
Good concentration of the nose with a mix of dark and red, sun drenched berries, black plums, cassis a whiff of strawberries and lavender. Sweet licorice, cedar wood and spice acts in the background.
Palate maintains a fresh (high acidity) spine through solid but fruity tannins, boils fruit intensity through the mid palate with a modest complexity but a sold finish. Good performance for the 3rd wine of Tenuta San Guido but overall a bit to average

Had an ‘11 recently, deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits and spice. On the palate this full-bodied dry wine, with medium acidity, had flavors of black cherry, currants and dried fruits, fine tannins with oaky notes. Medium finish ending with stewed fruit character. Drink now, beginning to get tired.

If you put it in a blind tasting it falls face first, but if you crack it open and don’t compare it to anything it’s a rather enjoyable wine. #bolgheri #supertuscan #italy #tuscany

Easy drinking. Silky tannins, med + acidity and lean texture. Daily house wine elevated.

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese. Aromas of fresh ripe fruits with notes of earthy floral. On the palate cherry and strawberry flavors with citrus and pepper spice. Developing fIne tannins with a slight grip, medium finish ending with fruit and spice. Enjoy, drinking well but needs more bottle age.

Pleasing, but not impressive. The ripe but fresh fruit profile is carried forward by a fine grained tannic structure and fresh acidity. Minor conplexity but lacks Some persitance and intensity.

It might not have the depth or complexity of Sassicaia, but Le Difese is certainly a nod to its more illustrious sibling with its silky texture, though without the body or intensity. Opened up in the glass. Tried via Coravin.

Not quite Sassicaia but a fraction of the price.
