This wine does a little Pinot Noir act, medium ruby in the glass with earthy red fruit on the nose. The Sicilian grapes were grown on the slopes of Mt. Etna, and owner Michele Faro spoke during a Zoom gathering about his love of the volcanic soil. The nose also offers notes of coffee, sage and eucalyptus. The palate definitely shows the volcanic origin along with spice and pepper, plus a firm tannic structure. The sip finishes clean and savory. Very tasty.

2016
fresh red cherry, hint of dried fig, meat- bacon, roasted tomato? balsamic. Medium weight (13.5), firm tannins, medium acid. A bit short but lovely all the same. Give it just a year or two

Blood oranges and whole cluster-like aromatics. Some funk. Tannins that you could call rustic. Overall, less austere than the last time I had it, with discernible red fruit that has a character that somehow reminds me of really good California Grenache. This is a whole lot of wine for the money.

Bottle number two this month also quite impressive. Not complex but definitely elegant and persistent.

I love wines like this. Light, fruity with a little bit of cracked pepper. Served with a chill it's super refreshing crisp. Don't be fooled, it has some structure and pairs beautifully with chicken marsala topped with a little flash seared prosciutto. Ripe raspberry and violets with a black tea note on the nose. Strawberries compote and some panna cotta, black tea.

Not the most complex ER but expressive and delicate with nice persistence. Lovely and classic.
