Bright and chewy fruit abounds from this delightful '09 Cab. The nose through the mid-palate is imbued with vibrant cherries, and the finish is not only lengthy- but a beautiful reflection of the wine that winds up on the mouth.

Tonight's wine is the 2009 Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon first opening there is deep juicy dark fruit that is very prevalent. Blackberry, prunes, fig, cream de cassis and a dark bakers chocolate. On the palate there is again big bold juicy dark fruit, blackberry, black currant, and black cherries. Notes of black pepper, vanilla with pronounced medium+ chewy tannins, medium + acidity and real good sustained length which doesn't want to end. I would think it still has a good 5-10 years in bottle to go. I think I purchased this for around $23.99.

I have always loved this cab and am glad to see that after a long absence from tasting this wine, my old friend is still awesome. A fantastic wine at $30 that blows away many cabs in the 50-75 range.

A delicious cab from 2011, the vintage no one wants. Excellent mountain Cabernet, balanced, good sweetness.

Dark inky color, reminds me of a petite sirah in that respect. Medium body, not the lush Calif style of cab. Good acidity and bright fruit with flavors tending toward raspberry. A little thin and tannic. Young.

Too young, but this is a well-made, mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. This will be spectacular in 5 years, I think. In the meantime, if you open this now, give it 24 hours to show its real self, which is: opaque reddish purple, almost black, yet brilliant. Aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco, fresh ground coffee, tar, and dried roses. Lithe on the palate, with more black fruit, spice, and mineral flavors. Rich and sexy, everlong finish. Do not pay $100+ for this quality, because you don't have to!
