Really dense and structured in a beautiful sense. Oaky leaves, twigs and green acorns on the nose; black cherries, violets, cloves and peppercorn. Oak tannins lap the lower sides of your tongue and teeth. Tar, crushed violet, black currant, cranberry, graphite: yes and more please! Thought I should get on this one sooner, but could age a while too! .

Deep black color like the label. On the nose medium + aromas of black fruit ( ripe kirsch, ripe cassis creme de cassis and blackberry jam) hints of ash, toast and cedar. On the palate the wine is rich lush and very “#Mediterranean while being pure pure #Cabernet. Burgundy bottle for Cab! I appreciate it a ton but I don’t love it. Aging incredibly well. 2007 in 2020

Torres family has been related to wine since the 17th century. Aged in oak for 18 months (70% new). Dark Ruby with aromas of black and blue fruits and complex spice. This Spanish Cab shows blackberry, currant and ripe cherry flavors with eucalyptus and herb spice, concentrated and complex with well integrated and structured tight smooth tannins. Long finish ending with earthy mineral notes. Just starting to be enjoyed now but this beauty has room to continue to develop. Very Nice! Tasting Sample.

Not what I expected. Beautiful Spanish Cab Sauv in a Burgandy bottle.

Mas La Plana 2009: droit, précis. Terroir? Sais pas, mais c'est très bon.

On this side of the pond, Mas La Plana is relatively unknown...or at least I get that impression because nobody in my circles ever talks about it. Yet, it is arguably one of the most important and storied vineyards in all of Spain. Maybe it’s because it’s planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and not Tempranillo. Maybe it’s because it’s from the Penedes and not Rioja or Ribera del Duero? Maybe it’s because it’s a Miguel Torres wine? Likely, it’s a combination of all three. However, all of those things cannot take away the fact that this is a world class wine. It’s fruit laden but a little age gives this complexity a deft balance that I usually associate with classified growths from Bordeaux. It’s not French. It’s not international. It’s not even really Spanish. It’s Finca Mas La Plana...and that’s what I love a respect about this wine every time I get to try it. That being said, these do need cellar time to truly appreciate and ten years or so is a good rule of thumb. They will undoubtedly last much longer.

Vintage 2010 / my 4000th contribution in Delectable. An emotional wine for me, because Torres Black Label 1970 was the wine that made me realize: wine is fun and interesting. This is the 40th release of Mas La Plana. Cabernet Sauvignon that is beautiful. In my last blindtasting I thought this to be Saint Estephe. 🤨Minerals and elegance. This wine will always have a special place in my heart.

Too young but already drinking pretty well, if not a little tight. Should age gracefully.

Mas La Plana 2004 is such a delicious wine. Still firm and vivid on the palate with so much to reveal over the next years. Loved it!
