Mauro Molino
Barolo Nebbiolo
Popped and poured; consumed over six hours. This was a really pleasant surprise...not that I should be expecting a bummer from Mauro Molino but when I consider that I paid sub $30 for a 2013 Barolo, I guess I set my expectations to "reasonable". Well, this exceeded those expectations with aplomb. A mix of dark and red fruits bursting from the glass along with tar and roses. Primary notes dominate. Abundant yet edgy fruit on the palate and unmistakably Barolo with loads of structure to carry this deep into the next decade. It gained some weight after about an hour in the glass and drank very well until the last sip six hours later. Killer with pasta alla Bolognese. Drink now or hold.

Jan 6th, 2018Probably could use more time. Not overly fragrant. Lots of alcohol. Soft tannins. I like it, but it would agree nicely.

Apr 26th, 2020Very good. Paired with sautéed shrimp in fresh diced garlic and white wine sauce, mixed with cherry tomatoes and sautéed kale tossed with cappelini. Perfect Sunday night dinner.

Mar 18th, 2018Unexpectedly light which ended up being pleasurable. Fruits berries and tenants. Not too many layers of complexity

Mar 4th, 2018A great wine! Leather, tar, faint fruitiness on the nose. Bright, ruby color. Full bodied, light acidity, and grape driven, tannic finish. A nice compliment to a steak dinner.
