May 20th, 2022Nose has beautifully pure fruit with a tropical tinge. Also musky white flowers and a little clean, stony minerality. Nicely concentrated in the mouth, but not heavy. It’s got fruit up front that slowly fades to stones. Acids are lowish, which is par for the course, but not so low as to make it out of balance. Very nice.

Dec 16th, 2021Blowsy, it lacks the charm and elegance of top notch Condrieu. Perhaps a product of a warm vintage, the 14%ABV is only offset by a canned peach profile.
Production details: 9 months on lees in French oak casks.

Les Vins de Vienne’s Condrieu La Chambée is sourced from southeast facing terraced vines overlooking the Rhône. Distinctive aromatics of Camomile tea, orange blossom, quince, and wet stone, with a honeyed character that persists.

Oct 20th, 2017If you gonna drink Viognier, it’s Peay or Condrieu. Not a difficult calculation.

A cornucopia of explosive, round-ripe fruit combined with nutty, herbal, and meaty secondaries. Oak comes to play as well. Do I want it often or even sometimes? No, but in the right situation this is exactly the sort of wine you want on the table and it's undeniably super complex. Weak-ish acid is bolstered by bitterness and a broad, creamy texture.
