Cà di Pian Barbera d'Asti Superiore

Good fruit with nice acidity.

Garnet ruby color. Nose- black fruits, earthy, tobacco, tar. Nice smooth tannins, earthy palate. Cork was of poor quality.

Superiore lives up to it…

Very tasty Barbera with some tanins, but not overwhelming. Had it with pasta and this worked very well. Usually not a big fan of Barbera, but this one stands out.

Pop a pour (can’t be helped).

NOSE: pomegranate, blueberry,

TASTE: nice acidity, dense berry, bitter herbs. Needs age or air, but still good. 90.

Started as a fruit bomb but gained some balance with air.

Great Barbera with valid meaning to the Superiore tag…superior balance, body, flavor, smoothness on the palate and other accoutrements of a finer Barbera.

A rich and powerful Barbera with balance acidity. Oak is prominent but of high quality and well integrated, as one would expect from La Spinetta.
The first red they made back in 1982.
