Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett Riesling
Just phenomenal. And I am a Graach guy at Prum. More never and energy than WS. Nose is so ethereal. Lime zest, first of season green apple skins, slate, apricot, phyllo dough. So expressive. Some sweet rubber as well. Like brand new rubber boots. Palate is so elegant and concentrated but light yet almost middle weight and weightless. Huge fruit soak. Such purity. Perfect for a mid summer Tuesday night.

Jul 23rd, 2024Pale lemon color with medium+ intensity aromas of floral, stone and citrus fruits with floral notes. On the palate this almost dry wine shows flavors of peach, ripe apple, lemon, apricot, melon with wet stone mineral. Vivid acidity with great mouthfeel on medium+ finish. Can age a bit but is very good now for optimal freshness.

Nov 1st, 2023My first time trying one of the hotly anticipated 2019s from J. J. Prüm, this being the Kabinett from the Himmelreich vineyard in Graach. 2019 was a hot vintage which benefited from cooler temperatures and rain towards harvest in September, tempering already high sugars in many of the grapes. A degree of the crop had been lost both through hail in Spring and sunburn in August. Nevertheless, 2019 has been lauded as the vintage of the century, drawing comparisons to 2016 Bordeaux, among others - and is especially successful at the drier end of the classification. So, how does this wine from the Kabinett Prädikat fare?
It’s a featherlight Riesling, often the mark of this estate in any given vintage, but while airy and graceful, there’s tremendous intensity to the palate, great persistence and a very long finish. A touch reticent at this stage, but that doesn’t fully hinder the aromas of orange marmalade, white peach, blueberry, juniper and tomato vine,

Medium golden yellow. Initially undifferentiated golden fruit. With air gains white cherry, martlitime/saline, pineapple aromas. Still medium sweet held well in check by sufficient acid. Better and much more complex with a homemade veg fried rice than by itself

Jul 10th, 2021The light in the tree… brilliant crystalline Asian pear, green apple, honeysuckle and tangerine flavors sizzle with fantastic acidity over a bed of river stones. There’s a reason I own a lot of JJ Prüm wines - they’re always, always fantastic, and they only get better with age.

On the nose there is honey, green apple, lime, pear, apricote, rubber bicycle tire and flint stone.
On the palate there is green apple, lime, lemon, minerality, orange peel, honey and a bit of salinity.
This wine is medium bodied with a viscous texture that is a bit sweet but not overly so and high acidity that moves into a long citrus minerality finish. I hope everyone is doing well staying safe and healthy. Have a great rest of the week. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂
