Lower alcohol than past years; better balance, less VA...and better for it. Fine, dusty and rare beef-bloody with an attractive, resinous top note. This should be a real treat in 3-4 years. #isoleeolena #chianticlassico

Vintage 2015 / Still closed in smell. Refinement in taste. Perhaps I should have given it more air.

Nice ruby color. Musty, forest floor nose. Bursting berries of both black and red nature. Had with a spicy sausage pizza which really matched well.

Tightly wound and reticent at first, the 2015 Isole demands more attention and patience than the prior vintage. It’s the typical pretty, elegant and polished style but the tannins are less forgiving and the minerality will put your face right in the dirt. Think forest-scented wild red berries, savory spice, potpourri and sprinkles of cigar ash. Probably enough acid to power most kitchen appliances- if this becomes a habit you’ll need a good dental plan. Chianti at its finest!

Cherries, earth and black tea. Like most any CC, better with food.

Dried herbs on nose. Bright acidity w/ medium body. Cherry notes. Smooth finish w/ drying tannins.
