Aug 20th, 2017Leathery and minerally. Doesn't really display the fruitier notes on the nose, except for a little whiff of macerated dried cherry. Dark and intense, this is a wine for rich, fatty Italian dishes. Lots of tannin, decent acids and a bit of peppery heat on the finish. I like my CCs a bit higher toned. But this is pretty solid for the under $20 price.
UPDATE: Night 2, the wine is silkier and more fruit is showing. Upping score from 8.7 to 8.8.

Jan 23rd, 20162009 Vintage.. Fruit forward.. Opened i15 minutes and this medium body Chianti was a perfect compliment to grilled flap steak with tomatoes and capers. Drink now as after open an hour, it began to fade.
