Leathery and minerally. Doesn't really display the fruitier notes on the nose, except for a little whiff of macerated dried cherry. Dark and intense, this is a wine for rich, fatty Italian dishes. Lots of tannin, decent acids and a bit of peppery heat on the finish. I like my CCs a bit higher toned. But this is pretty solid for the under $20 price.
UPDATE: Night 2, the wine is silkier and more fruit is showing. Upping score from 8.7 to 8.8.

Easy-drinking Chianti, light and tart #cherry flavors. Drink all at once, loses a lot on the second day.

2009 Vintage.. Fruit forward.. Opened i15 minutes and this medium body Chianti was a perfect compliment to grilled flap steak with tomatoes and capers. Drink now as after open an hour, it began to fade.
