This is a silkier, more elegant vintage of the Chapelle, at least relative to the 2010, which was really in my zone, as well as the 2009, which I found over-the-top, but in both cases I think there was more stuffing there than here. This would've shown better if I'd opened it with white meat or even fish or something else where a lightweight presence and loose-knit structure is called for. It's an excellent wine in that idiom but lacks some of the solidity and grip it has offered in other years. It's not imbalanced at all, and the trademark stony mineral flavors are still here, it's just a slimmer version of its usual self.

What an unassuming yet gorgeous bottle of Burgundy. Underrated village, underrated producer, overwhelmingly elegant wine. Perfect vintage for this, too, with lovely fleshy Pinot fruit to balance out all that minerality.

Med concentration with a magenta core fading out to a clear rim. Med intensity and complexity on the nose showing just ripened red fruit, red flowers, orange, slight baking spices, and milk chocolate. The palate had decent structure with some dryness to the edgy tannins, and med + acid. Med complexity showing less definition than the nose. Tannins are a touch out of whack but otherwise balance is fine. Med length. #domainelafouge #auxeyduresses #premiercru #pinotnoir #burgundy #cotedebeaune #ctbucklinwine

Gorgeous wine. Tart cherries, dried flowers, citrus peel. Drinking really well just out of the bottle.

Aroma of violets and cigar box. Bright cherry, fresh acidity, very silky fine tannins. A soft mouthfeel with a medium long spicy finish. Quite nice. Something very refined and elegant about it.

Dreamy and light body with a very high acid. Clay appeared to be very present on both the nose and palate, also dried fruits and raisons. What a pretty supple red!

2011 LaFouge Auxey-Duresses 1er “La Chapelle”. Silky & fresh with some sappy red fruit. Has an ethereal quality which pairs with Eno’s 2016 masterpiece, The Ship. I love this record as it hits his vocal & ambient stuff in equal quantity.

Delicious. Quite restrained for a 2015. Very elegant.
