It’s no secret Rousseau absolutely nailed the vintage, and this 2013 Ruchottes-Chambertin was exceptional. Deep, vibrant and with soaring aromatics. High toned red fruit preserves, exotic spices, integrated sous bois and pixelated minerals.

There is exhilarating energy, seductive texture and an alluring freshness, along with impressive concentration for the vintage. The acidity is focused and kept in check, and the tannins are present but unobtrusive.

It expands on the midpalate with great complexity, depth and delineation, leading to its superbly long, elegant and lifted finish. So open and expressive now, and with the backbone and substance to age for decades more. ✨✨

1990 never fails to deliver on French reds. This was super.

Wine No. 6 of 9 in the lineup tasted blind. Mid Ruby in colour and at the end of this bracket this was my Favourite from Gevrey Chambertin. Not surprising it was a Rousseau wine. Mid Ruby in colour. A return to a more perfumed nose. Sweet red fruits on a balanced delicious palate. Great concentration. ( will buy if I can afford My Notes said). After revealing the wines it turns out that this Ruchottes was only 25% new oak, letting the beautiful ripe, well handled fruit speak.

Burg personified. Wild mushrooms and earth on the nose. Palate is delicate. Some warm toast notes, with cherries and wet earth. Finishes smooth and with precision.

Sweeter Strawberry like aromas with a touch of charred Oak More fruit driven than most of the Grand Crus so far. M- intensity with good length. Some astringency/bitterness to finish off. NB. Notes later reveal only 20% new oak allowing the fruit to shine.

Very dense fruit with the earthy characteristics developing later with an hour decant. 2012 vintage is quite approachable and developed now.
