Barbaresco Nebbiolo
Young but such a benchmark for the region. Sappy red and black fruit, bramble, and lithe tar notes. You want this in a blind lineup of what barbaresco “should” be.

Oct 19th, 2020Still needs help in opening up, beit decant or time in bottle, but the rewards are there. Dark black fruits, a bit of creosote, somewhat austere overall.

Apr 9th, 2020Refined Nebbiolo from a great producer. Great development.

Mar 23rd, 2020Proper Barbaresco from a great vintage. Right in the sweet spot: burnt sugar, quatre épices, roasted plums. The ultra-structure that all the great ‘10s have make this a likely candidate to drink well for another 10 years. Amazing that this is still in stores for $30 or less.

Mar 10th, 2019Well-made, smoky Barbaresco with some oak influence. Tech sheet indicates 2 years in oak, but not much detail on the size of the barrels. Violets, sour cherry, almond, baking spices, white mushroom, sage. Plenty of acid a tannins... this 2015 needs some time in bottle. SommSelect Fall 2018.

Nov 3rd, 2018Classic floral nose. More candies strawberry/raspberry than tar, but still distinct gravel. Lithe, lucid, elegant on the palate. Rose, then ripe strawberry. Understated acid structure. Long, developing finish.

Feb 17th, 2018As always, a terrific old-school barbaresco at a fantastic price. And always a great indicator of vintage quality.

Nov 11th, 2017Hits the spot. Really beautiful, pure and bright red fruits that are perfectly ripe. High acid to match the fruit, some "leather" and a little EA. cherry fruit is starting to dry a touch. Stewed cherries. "Rusty". Alc not too high which is nice. Again, hits the nebb spot.
