The first time I ever spent more on wine than I really should was on my very first visit to Corison, age 21. I still haven’t opened the bottle from that purchase, but every time I taste Corison I’m reminded how special this winery is in my wine development. I remember tasting this wine with Cathy Corison from her newly purchased Sunbasket Vineyard a year before release. It’s only gotten better - structured yet delicate, floral yet savory, it lives in a calm tension that’s deceptively more firm despite its captivating nuance.

Just as excellent on Mauna Kea at 13,800-ft as it is at the hotel. Deep blue and black fruit notes, great with smoke, long finish and the contrast to the Kronos of the same vintage

This is the first of three different Corison 2015 Cabs we blind tasted. Bright with nutmeg, boysenberry and raspberry.

Flawless. Complex perfectly ripe cassis and blackberry, restrained tannins

Faintly cigar box, just enough oak to round it out with slight spice

Hard to hold my other corisons when they are so good at this point

Currants, raspberries. Leather and smoke. Brilliant balance between ripe fruit and acid as usual for corison.

I am never disappointed in Corison Cabernets. Delicious from the frites drop to the last.

Just starting to familiarize myself with this Corison Cab from the Sunbasket Vineyard which was originally planted in St. Helena back in the 1950’s by legendary winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff (aka the ‘Maestro’). Bright flavors of raspberry, boysenberry but subtle and smooth finish. In a word it was delicious.

Incredible how much this changes in the hours after opening. From structured and imposing to relaxed and warmly spicy...beautiful all around. We just couldn't wait although this wine had decades of life left clearly
