Old school in a good way. Mellow, elegant. Cab-forward but the merlot is def there in the background. Black currant, tobacco, cedar, some red fruit notes. My kind of Bordeaux

2016, so, young and wound up. Nose of live cypress, fresh dug hole along a wood, pine one, cherrywood, pressed raspberry; barely broken. Raisin rolls, chanterelle, rose stem. Rocky, with a silken red liquid rose petal moment that turned chewy round tannin and lush burst of plum. A solid nod to graphite immersed in raspberry tartness, red currant and slightest cinnamon and slighter peppercorn. Green in spots but there architecturally.

A surprisingly dark and brooding color for such an approachable wine. The nose, right off the bat and sans decant is warm and lush; softly revealing cassis, a sort of black-leathery note, and what I can only describe as a classic “collage” of what I love so much about the wines from Margaux. The approach and palate, however, are the stars. Right out of the bottle- sans decant or even much time to breathe- this powerful 2015 is as gracious and well-expressed as anything from the region, from such a profound vintage, as I’ve ever had. It’s the fine and inviting tannins that do it. Simply put: this is as close to a California fruit-bomb as I’ve ever had from Margaux. Do NOT repeat this to anyone you may happen to know, that is French. The finish is where you find the grip, and it sticks around and reminds you of where it’s from for a truly delightful amount of sips.
It’s not cheap- but damn if it won’t impress.

Raisins and earth and some super dried green bell peppers and then buried in more earth. Old world classique.

Pretty as a Margaux is, and with some age. Lovely. And robust too.

Quite elegant, lifted and fresh. Classic secondary aromas and flavors with loads of acidity.

Incredibly balanced blend that is so welcome. Opened up beautifully. I'm a fan.

Excellent and powerful nose with lots of flower stems and black flowers. Tightly wound, with fruit just beginning to emerge. Only 5 barrels produced

Near perfect Bordeaux. Sweetly floating tannin matched with the balance of old, Cab/Merlot .
