If it’s on the list and the price is right an automatic buy. Wonderful combo of stone fruit and citrus connected by zippy acidity. A wine that always does a Slow Foxtrot in my mouth. Will certainly gain complexity with time.

See 2 previous notes on this excellent wine. Honeysuckle and ripe pear - low acid. Unctuous is the texture. Pinot Bianco appears to be underrated and probably doesn’t get much better than this. If Pinot Bianco (PB) was always like this, everyone would be growing PB.

The 2019 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg has an exotic flair, blending rich notes of vanilla custard with white flowers, crushed pears and hints of sweet spice. It’s silky and deeply textural, washing creamy waves of ripe orchard fruits across the palate, while leaving saline-minerals that create a more tactile feel. There are depths yet unseen here, as the 2019 comes across as densely packed and layered, yet with perfect balance and a tart citrus reverberation that adds energy. It finishes long and lightly structured, leaving the palate completely refreshed. This is just a baby today, yet it is full of potential. I tasted the Vorberg from a freshly opened bottle and one that had been opened for two days without any sign of decline. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022)

The 2011 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is wonderfully fresh and perfumed, with hints of custard giving way to pretty yellow flowers, nuances of chamomile and citrus-tinged apple. This is soft and round on the palate, with lifting acids and sweet inner herbal tones coming across as fully resolved and giving, yet also finessed. It tapers off with a lemony concentration that lingers long. The 2011 is gorgeous today, and it shows remarkable lift for being the result of a warm vintage. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022)

Now that daughter Georgie is home from Copenhagen for a short stint I am working through my aromatic whites from Europe and my small supply of natural and skin contact wines - neither of which the Vorberg is. However, it is the best Pinot Bianco I have tried. Ripe and peachy with an unctuous full bodied low acid texture. Ready to drink. Bottom line- Delicious. Had another bottle 48 weeks later on 14th January 2023. Quite unctuous - Barb said syrupy. Italian whites can be under rated IMO. I had a glass of Timorasso at Enoteca Restaurant in Brisbane yesterday - just delicious. This Pinot Bianco was different - we both loved it.

Finally a wine that lives up to the hype. Engaging on so many levels. And drinking at room temp really brought out all the components. 2016 still super young at 5 yrs. can’t wait to try my other bottles down the road.

Absolutely stunning example of Pinot Bianco, an underrated variety in my opinion. The nose shows yellow apple, orange blossom, some creamy custardy character and a slight hint of sweet spice. In the mouth this wine is lush and lively with loads of texture from the barrel ferment and sur-lie aging. Quince jam, pineapple upside-down cake, and chamomile resonate on the intense finish. Had this for the first time at Single Thread a year and a half ago and bought a few bottles shortly thereafter. Worth it.

One favorite from the tasting: softer, rounder, more mellow / but the same inimitable Vorberg style
