Bruno Giacosa
Asili Di Barbaresco Nebbiolo
Amber tawny color. Mostly translucent. Killer nose. Notes of licorice and anise, rose petals, sweet fruit. While fruit forward, it still packs a punch with ample structure and some pucker - even with 9 hours in a decanter. Love the nose on this. Outperformed expectations given the vintage.

Oct 31st, 2021Terrific wine with lots of vibrancy. If Barbaresco is the queen of Nebbiolo, she's as tough as Elizabeth I or II. One for opening in several years.

Sep 17th, 2019Lovely rounded fruit. Dark plum and some brambles. Settled and delicious. Lovely detail on the finish. Quite cool blooded.

Mar 6th, 2019A great showing from the 2001 Asili. Aromatic, intense and sublime. A real pleasure to share and drink this bottle with my mom and dad. My parents introduced me to the wines of Bruno Giacosa (and many other Piedmont greats like Gaja, Vietti etc.) when I was in high school. The first Giacosa wine I remember buying for myself on release was the 1989 Barbaresco Santo Stefano Riserva. It cost the princely sum of $55 a bottle😱which at the time was a splurge that felt borderline reckless...Even today, there is nothing like the wines of the Maestro. 😋❤️

Apr 7th, 2018Spectacular nose of fig, balsamic, dried cherry, dried rose petals, and tar backed by grainy tannins and still plenty of acidity. Sit on this!

Very disappointing. Nice nose with rose petals, smokiness, dried red fruits and earth. But it totally crumbles in the mid palate, very hollow. Very dry on the finish. This may be an off bottle or suffered from high heat somewhere during transportation. I will definitely try another bottle of this later. 😂🤣😅14% alc. 2009 vintage
