It was smooth but seemed ripe and high alcohol and a little bit tired. I feel like Valbuena is best drunk young.

A couple of nice wines tonight to go with their tapas & paella

2010 vintage. Vega Sicilia portfolio tasting, Berry Bros. & Rudd, St James's, London. Deep and concentrated wine, smoke, tight. A touch balsamic with hints of dried plums. A touch vegetal. Full bodied and powerful. The wine has acidity, structure and power but lack so far body/flesh with a bitter finish. No doubt it will improve with time. One to keep.

Lovely lively and fun. Good mix of fruit with density.

Highly enjoyable! My introduction to some of the classics of Spain. Just wish we had enough room to try the Pingus offerings that night, too! Sigh, it’ll have to be back to the PSI when back in the US.
