Lite notes of cola and stewed plums on the nose. Palate displays a supple tannic structure, but lacks the density and texture I have come to expect from this bottling. Comes across as somewhat hollow on the mid palate. Serviceable, but not great in my mind.

Consistent. Fruit reads dark on the nose and palate but clocks in light at 12% abv. Good, but won’t improve. Pair with grilled salmon or sautéed mushrooms.

Winery started in 1999 by Dr John and Karen Bergstrom. Medium Ruby with ripe berry fruit flavors, some tea, floral and spice notes. On the palate, cherry, cranberry and raspberry flavors with herb and citrus notes. Fine grainy tannins on medium+ finish ending with slight bitter saline character. Now!

Always strong, but lacks the depth and texture from previous vintages. Will cellar and may improve. More acid than tannin. Tilts towards tart as opposed to sweet.

Friday evening I opened the 2018 Bergström Cumberland Reserve Pinot Noir. Comes from the Willamette Valley Newberg, Oregon. The 20th Vintage from Bergström and #37 on Wine Spectators Top 100 List.

On the nose the is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, barnyard funk, cola, hibiscus, roses and earth.

On the palate is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, spice, vanilla, cola, red currant, roses and earth.

This wine is medium bodied with a fresh firm mouthfeel a beautiful expression of a Willamette Valley pinot noir, has medium + acidity and medium + fine polished tannins. Love this wine. Please stay safe and healthy during the week ahead. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Vivid ruby. Musky cherry and red currant aromas, along with hints of botanical herbs and allspice. Gently chewy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry, red berry, spicecake and licorice flavors that turn sweeter through the back half. Dusty tannins add shape and grip to the long, spicy finish, which leaves cherry pit and baking spice notes behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2022)

Incredibly soft yet gives an impression of distinct clarity. Light and laden with small red berries and gentle stemmy elements. Nice.

Family-owned and operated started in 1999 by Dr John and Karen Bergstrom. Medium Ruby with fresh ripe berry fruit flavors, tea and floral spice notes. On the palate, cherry, cranberry and raspberry flavors with complex herb and orange citrus notes. Fine tannins on long finish ending with slight citrus character. Drink now while it’s fresh, will benefit from short-term aging. I like ‘17 better than ‘16.
