Good, classic flavors and nose. A bit over extracted for us.

Fruity, gutsy, and straightforward. Nose has plenty of dark red fruits, a bit of raw beef, a very subtle note of cracked peppercorn, and yeasty freshly-baked bread scents. Already showing nicely on the palate, it’s fairly concentrated and nicely balanced. Think of it as a Cali Crozes. Great value.

The ‘21 has classic syrah fruit and spice, a nice hint of oak and a fine line of acidity to bring it together. Plus you get a bit of some of the best Syrah vineyards in the Golden State. Update — still drinking great in 6/26.

Punchy and spicy. Good aggressive fruit profile and no olives (nice since olives are trash.) Not just fruit here though. Good spice and structure. Delivers way more than price paid.

1 person found it helpfulJul 31st, 2020a slightly prettier version of the Cal Syrah but still packs depth and hits high on the QPR. Boysenberry, Violet, earth, pepper, savory notes all on a smooth, drinkable frame. Sadly, if I heard right, this is the last year for Bien Nacido X block (the dominant fruit in this blend).

Effusive and up front red fruits, smooth and balanced, really a fine drinker, longish finish, very nice Syrah!

Oct 24th, 2025Bedrock’s California Syrah brings together some of the great Syrah vineyards in California in an incredibly well-priced wine. The ‘23 hits you with the big nose that is a signature of this wine — dark berry and cinnamon like a fresh baked pie this year. The fruit is more reticent on the palate, perhaps the result of a long, very cool growing season. It leans toward graphite and earthiness. A solid, if not outstanding vintage, still high on the price/quality ratio.

Very French-like Syrah in its ripeness and flavor profile, savory, super fresh and crisp red cherry/berry flavors, medium-long, lingering finish, the acidity here should easily carry this 8-10 years, another Bedrock gem!!
