Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

I failed to get that "signature nose" of BV (it reminded me more of Stags Leap Wine Cellars from the mid-80's).

Quite impressed that another one in the group tonight called it out blind.

George Latour, born in 1982. Sounds like a school friend. This one has volatile alcohol on the nose. Again, just like some school friends. This bottle might not be perfect.

Blue and plummy, redolent of potpourri and rich wet earth. Drink now!

Meaty, savory, smoke, very alive, olives, coconut, dried mushrooms, still tannic, awesome.

Nicely aged. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Still very powerful. Vanilla, cotton candy, black cherry with tree. Perfectly balanced. The best 7-80's napa wine I've ever tasted.

1982 vintage. Respectable fill and cork. Decanted and tasted after two hours. A bit prunish in the nose but that didn’t translate into the flavor profile. Medium body. Still lots of ripe fruit with a decent amount of acidity. Much better than anticipated. Holding strong. 3.5.24.

Past its peak but still some fruit left and nice chocolate/coffee notes

Nice mature wine with a slightly Madeirized nose, a medium to full body with nicely integrated acid, tannin & mature fruit, but not a lot of complexity & a nice medium-length aftertaste.
