Anomaly Vineyards
St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon
An intense elegant monster that needs lots of air. From the vineyard next to Beckstoffer, Los Piedras- heady with a bolt of iron mineral, black raspberry, red licorice. Savory. Complimentary color of brilliant dark garnet that looks like it would stain everything it touches. Classy and distinctive.

Jun 14th, 2024Decanted for about 30min before the first glass. Explosion of black fruit, leather and cigar box on the nose. Exceptional mouthfeel revealing complex flavors of smoked blueberry, violets and blood orange plum. Clean finish that opens up to five spice and smoked meats wonderful!

Fell in love with this boutique estate last August. Highly recommend!
Insanely dark purplish ruby red. Nose is coated in dark raspberries, tobacco, oak, and dark spices. Heavy oaky tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Needed to be opened for at least a couple hours. Palate is layered with tons of dark black and red fruits, cinnamon, vanilla, woody tannins and dark spices. Excellent structure and an insanely long finish. Still just a baby. Drink till 2038.

From one of my personal favorite vintages of Napa (for drink-ability and consumption over the next 10+ years) I thought this underperformed.
The finish showed an austerity from wood tannins that makes me wonder if some wineries/winemakers are running on "auto-pilot" and simply HAVE to use all the new barrels they order in April/May (before they have a good clue of how the characteristics for that specific vintage will turn out...??).
