Wine Situation Final Five

The Wine Situation hosts everyone from winemakers to writers to find out what a person’s situation is…with wine. At the end of each episode, host Ellen Clifford wants to know the basics of her guests’ final thoughts on wine, drink and food. This month, Ellen talks with Elle Rodriguez, aka The Modern Pour! This was edited for length! QUESTION ONE Ellen: Question number one: whatcha drinking? What are you into these days? Elle: Whatever anyone sends me. The amount of packages I get…it’s not for the faint of heart. QUESTION TWO Ellen: Question number two is: what is a favorite or unusual pairing? Elle: I’m obsessed with a burger and Rosé . It is amazing. I would never pair a Rosé with a steak, but a burger with cheese, a pickle, Thousand Island, no mustard, maybe a mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato…that and caviar, potato chips with crème fraiche and Champagne . QUESTION THREE: Ellen: Question three: if you made wine, what would you make, and what would you name your winery? Elle: I want to make a Graciano Rosé . And I want to do sparkling as well. What would I call it…Elle’s Spells. I want some sort of witchy bruja magical whimsical…Elle’s Spells. QUESTION FOUR: Ellen: Question number four: if not drinking wine, and you can give me alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, what beverages do you enjoy? Elle: My favorite non-alcoholic beverage is ginger ale. Canada Dry. Or a blood orange San Pellegrino. And I’m obsessed with a Crisp Martini—it’s Hendrick’s gin, St. Germain, and a floater of Sauvignon Blanc . QUESTION FIVE Ellen: Question number five: what’s bringing you joy these days? Elle: I manifested an amazing life, and I have amazing friends, and my life couldn’t be better, but that’s all because I manifested it. And there could be things a little better, like my relationship with my mom—but that’s like everybody, right? Also, I think it’s very important to create your own joy. I feel like we live in this world where we want instant gratification—what brings me joy is the friendships I cultivated and worked really hard on. I’ve worked on myself as well. And my cat! *** Elle can be found @themodernpour pretty much everywhere! Check out the previous Wine Situation podcast with Marilee Bramhall here .

Bollinger RD is and has been my favorite. So much depth of flavor and body. Beautifully integrated wood. Aromas of dried lemon peel, hazelnuts and lacquered wood. Rich and decadent — a year ago

Tuck Beckstoffer Wines

Est.75 Tuck Beckstoffer California Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

On the nose notes of graphite, blackberry, plum, cedar, and dark chocolate shavings. On the palate medium-plus body with notes of dark chocolate & cherry truffles, espresso and raspberries. Nicely paired with my favorite burger. — 6 years ago
