Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days and showed very well throughout. The 2012 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core and some browning towards the rim; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with secondary characteristics just starting to show themselves. Also, the solar nature of 2012 is showing through with loads of truffles and overripe and desiccated red and black fruits: tartufo bianco d’Alba, dried cherry, bruised raspberries, red roses, leather, Fig Newtons, dried herbs, and some dusty and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, drying and savory. I’ve been a vocal fan of the 2012 vintage of Produttori since release and this might be the best showing yet. This is my last 750mL. My remaining bottles are magnums and I’ll look forward to enjoying those over the next 10-15 years. No rush, but this is a fun time to drink these as the truffle character is starting to peak through.

Vintage 1977 | Rich, tertiary tones, wonderful to taste. Paired with quail.

First time tasting the ‘19 vintage, and the Produttori edged out one of my fave under the radar barolistas this early on. Maybe because it released sooner? Both red fruited with sour cherries and elegant tamed tannin/acid, but the Produttori had another gear of sweet incense and hard candy. The vintage does remind me of a more approachable’13 from a tannin perspective.

Started a bit sharp but opened nicely. Elegant with an edge.

A bit volatile, nice plush cherry and rose petal, always reliably good

Pretty awesome stuff. Better, with more fruit and length, than the other bottle of this we opened a few years ago.

Popped and poured; consumed over a three hour period. No formal notes. The 2015 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco pours a deeper garnet color with a translucent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. No signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is currently bursting with red and dark fruits: blackberries, Luxardo cherry, pomegranate, green herbs, red flowers, green herbs, and tar. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. The notes on the nose are confirmed. The finish is long and savory. Really compelling stuff in the context of the night. I think the 2015’s are drinking so well right now. Unfortunately, this is my last bottle of the “classico” but I’ll be on the hunt for more if I can score at a good price. Drink now if you’re going to allow for some evolution in the glass or enjoy through 2035.

At this stage Ferrando Carema White Label ‘16 blows away Produttori Barbaresco ‘16. Produttori is very ripe, and the alcohol is less in balance. The ‘16 normale does not really exhibit the freshness and elegance I associate with classic Barbaresco. Yes, the concentration and depth is impressive, and maybe at 10-20+ years the wine will achieve harmony. For now it exhibits more climate change character than the high tone energy desired. This is a Grey Market bottle purchased recently. I wonder if less than pristine storage and/or transit was an influence. I will compare notes with bottles purchased on release and via authorized Importer somewhere down the road.

A little closed after decanting. Aromas of red cherry, menthol, pepper and also wet nappy. Just Medium bodied - a great food wine with home made pasta. Very Italian with a savoury balsamic note but I thought it might give more at 10 years. On the 2nd night very skinnsy with bitter notes. Will probably have the last one in around a year. Had the last bottle 40 weeks later on 7th January 2024. Not showing as well as previous note here. Menthol still very noticeable. 88 points.

A classic. Still somewhat tight but the dark berry fruit is there along with floral, pepper, earth tones and some licorice/anise
