From Magnum. Did look at Severins notes and what others had to say and i tend to agree. Not an overachieving wine 9.0 at best. Why make a 150 anniversary cuvée which is just OK? Raspberries mostly but it lacks anything more. Compared to the. 2015 NSG Mark Haisma La Charmotte this is not notable. (One of my vino guests this evening vigorously disagreed on my rating - he drank easily half of the Mag. but even after further consideration - I stand by my rating). — 5 days ago
Excellent much better then the 22 Schlossberg. Lemon driven but with some herbs. Back palate Kiwi? — 11 days ago
For the most part this did get very poor ratings. But I fund the wine super juicy and fruit driven. Fantastic party wine. — 13 days ago
I love his wines and I guess lucky for me was added to his e-mail list a decade ago. This wine has now typicity aka terroir which comes from this vineyard (the vines are getting older he started out when they were quite young). Pear/honey on the nose - tons of acid, meyer lemon, sour mandarine on the back palate very restrained fruit. Not tropical or floral at all. Sharp clean and crisp. Almost steely. Very burgundian in style - folks would have a very hard time to identify this as CA in a blind tasting. 2 Puncheons produced and just 12.9%! (His Watson Ranch {napa}is my #1 but allocated followed by Heron Lake {wild horse valley}. Those 23‘s I will review in the future. — 4 days ago
Magnum. Usually squirreled away buy the Michelin’s. Flat out gorgeous at first sip. What a wine. I have these things with wines. Decanted or not warm cold poor storage the good ones impress at the first sip! Diam 5 Cork! Is perfect! Why is it not used more? Orange peel, faint cherry notes, black cherry. 13%. Fresh. Touch chocolate, touch lime juice. Whiff of cardamom on the back palate. A masterpiece from a very peasant not familiar or fancy plot. Not even a 1er! Light and elegant for a NSG. Drink up at its peak! — 5 days ago
A solid producer year after year! Very juicy and light. Some whole cluster. Very likable and unoffensive. Touch bitter. Orange zest, more red fruit than dark. Cherry/Hint blackberry. Touch oregano. Lime. Crushed marble. Covers the back palate nicely. Lots going on here. I consider this a drink now wine 36 bucks and 13.5%. There are just a handful of Pinots which win me over at this price point. And this one is in the Burgh killer zone. If you like Pinot this is a winner @ San Diego Wine Co. — 12 days ago
@ Total Wines & Less. Quite harsh. Unbalanced and quite acidic. 12.5%. Mostly cranberries very faint hint of cherry. Was a gift. This store does Burgundy a disservice. If i would be a young wine drinker who wants to check these out - this is not a good intro. — 4 days ago
Just 8 bucks. T.J. wine. 🍷. Quite bad. Yes this is for a group of friends who do not care or know. Very fruity and juice like a ton of sweet blackberries even though it is just 13.5%. Definitely residual sugar. And i have heard this at least 100 times - the folks and my dear friends who will love this wine - will also proclaim with a vengeance- that they hate sweet wines!!! But hey like a good Sommelier i have to make sure the customer is happy - So be it. — 10 days ago
This is the Riesling Trocken (dry). Beautiful citrus fruit, lemon curd, hint jasmine and a faint touch of peach as it reaches close to room temp. lacks this wow haven‘t had this before - effect. Some sulfur on the nose which needs to breathe out. Good wine. — 12 days ago
Pinotman /// Andreas
Like a Burgh - no difference. Franken Pinot (FP). Schlepped this all the way from this super remote winery my 2nd bottle. Stumbled onto this wine because Jancis Robinson recommended this (after all she used to be the Sommelier of the Queen of England). Suitcase import. 13.5% world class - really. Roses on the nose. In the glass faint cherries, blackberries, elderberry (just bought a plant we used to make jam), red currants. Back palate hard to define Za'atar (the plant) - Screw Cap (a strange choice for such quality juice). I know this wine is inaccessible for most folks on this website - sorry. But Franken is a very interesting wine region. The soil is by the way limestone - so it is classic for Pinot. I walked the vineyards - very off the beaten path - even for Germany. — 18 hours ago
