Very nice. The wine complemented a pesto pizza with sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts. No complaints. Buy again! — 2 years ago
Tasted library vintage of all five grand crus from 2014
St Eden - The nose carries the characteristic dark fruit and crème de cassis, and a very light hint of sage. The tell-tale yin and yang is in full display: Hedonic richness woven with cool minerality. The tannins serve as a guiding force, but are ever so fine as they persist on the finish. — 3 years ago
The yin to 2005’s yang, the 2008 is ethereal and elegant, very Burgundian like. The fruit is more red to dark red, slightly more high toned and fresher - red cherry, currants, and pomegranate, with elegant spice and savory notes. The pepper here is a little more perceptible but is also very well integrated with the style the vintage has borne. The palate has med/med+ concentration, with more perceptible acidity, but in a mouthwatering, refreshing way. The tannin are med/med+ and fine, and this finishes long, cool and fresh. Another example of a great vintage/terroir wine. — a year ago
Like a soapy tropical little German Pils from Scheurebe. Grapefruit scented mosaic hops and dank marijuana crystals. Hints of mango and papaya floating in the periphery. A body with some girth and buttercream to yang the ying of acid you couldn't complain about not even for a second. — 2 years ago
Great cab, slight burn, good with food as it opens. Hsia/Yang hangout. — 3 years ago
Yin and yang of lemony acidity and fuller body. — 4 years ago
Just rock-solid Châteauneuf, this is exemplary and for me personally my exact sweet-spot in terms of the varied styles from this region. The nose takes a little coaxing, but has a great yin / yang profile of pure, fresh blue fruit, liquorice, violets, and garrigue, versus seared meat, iron and loamy earth. This all puts it square in the middle of the ‘old’ and ‘new’ schools, broadly speaking, and it’s a wine that has the best of both worlds as a result.
The palate is huge, an iron fist in a glove of velvet and so much more, but in no way imbalanced or over-extracted - not overtly alcoholic, at a modest 14%. It spreads out in waves across the palate, ripples which are felt long after the finish. This is clearly a baby now, but it drinks well and will see its 20th birthday in damn fine fettle. Excited to have a case in the cellar.

Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego
2022 vintage. @ Mister A’s Restaurant, San Diego-Les Caves de St. Charles CDP dinner. 100% Roussanne-driven. Initial mineral indication of interest, broad mid-palate transition, yang-styled, white grape “fat” on the judiciously-honeyed finish. Wowzers. Grab you some if you can find it. 95 cases produced. Good luck with that. 11.16.23. — a year ago
