I wasn't expecting such level of refinement for less than 10€. Unclouded straw yellow gliming in the glas with a few green reflexes. Aromas of quince and brioche promise a smooth and fruity chardonnay experience and the promise is kept. As an extra you'll get a touch of lemon cest on the palate with a faint but fairly long lasting idea of herbal bitterness as a farewell. — 3 years ago
Shy & restrained in the nose with some peach, a touch of pineapple, a whiff of physalis. The palate shows surprising precision & tension for an entry level Riesling, with flinty minerality and yellow stone fruit woven tightly around a core of juicy acidity. On top, this has only 11,5% alc. What a delight. — 7 years ago

Turns out he’s still really good at wine old Antony. Muscular and taut. — 8 years ago
Recommended by a staff member at Laurenz when we asked for the best non-Huber Spatburgunder they had. Apparently this was the imposter at a Bugundy tasting they had last year (featuring DRC, Rousseau, etc.) and no one picked it up. Not the most definitive sign of quality, but still gotta taste it.
Very elegant. Limestone site shows! Definitely more extracted than the Furst we had (then again, this is St. Antony's top Pinot), more structure, some darker fruits, but still sporting plenty of drive. Really enjoyed it. 25% new oak, 25% stems. Definitely can see this holding it's ground against some village or even PC burg. — 9 years ago
Light but round starting of fruity and then turning spicy and tasting the tanines. Quite a unique wine. — 2 years ago
Black fruits, earthy, herbs and some tobacco full-bodied and absolutely irresistible in the nose. Followed by a cool, well balanced structure on the palate with fine tanins, light as feather. Wood elves would love it. — 4 years ago
Rich gold in the glass and quite muted on the nose yet with enticing freshness. Underripe apricots, green papaya, white flowers, a pinch of spiciness, a slightly reductive, flinty whiff. Very light, yet intriguing.
On the palate this shows good weight & concentration, packed with the Riesling power. Yet there, again, is lightness & finesse with purity of fruit, a seamless, juicy mouthfeel and a long finish.
This is a GG playing more in the Kabinett featherlight league rather than heavyweight Spätlese. A very nice wine! — 7 years ago
Wow! One of the best Blaufränkisch for me so far, 16 Euros! — 8 years ago
As good as previously, about $50 from Marrickville liquor store. With MC, Antony & Hotsy at Spring 2017 Festiv de Luce.

Drank at Lutes's at Thanksgiving on 11-24-2016. Vintage N/A. Thanks to Tommy's Euro friends - Julian, Marine and Antony — 10 years ago
There is an intriguing story behind this label—Angela winery is owned by South African couple Antony and Angela Beck, who also happen to own Graham Beck. The couple reside in Kentucky where they focus on thoroughbred horses. Corinthian is named after one of their champions and this luscious Rutherford Cab was vinified at Opus One. No surprise that it is pure hedonism in the glass. Glossy plums, black currants and graphite notes meld into a wine framed by ripe, silky tannins and liberally dusted in mocha, espresso powder and plump blue fruit. 15.5% ABV — 11 years ago
Kjempe søt. Men bare 8% — 3 years ago
A nice, richer style of Pinot, with rich dark cherry, fresh woody notes, a wet moss whiff. Enticing.
On the palate - juicy with vibrant acidity, fresh, crunchy cherry, a touch of tannic frame. On the fruitier side but with depth & purity. A truly nice Pinot. — 4 years ago
An uplifting, aetheric nose full of crunchy dark cherry and damson plum, with a whiff of tobacco leaf and a touch of cedar wood. On the palate quite light, with juicy acidity and nicely polished, ripe tannins. Thankfully not spoiled by clumsy wood aging. Quite elegant yet highly drinkable & delightful.
V. nice discovery. — 7 years ago
A small, family-owned winery, owned by Antony Beck a native South African wine producer who began Angela Estate in 2006. Antony created the winery as a celebration of his wife, Angela and their five children. Made with estate fruit, aromas of fruit, floral & spice. Juice flavors of raspberry and strawberry with licorice and spicy pepper notes. Fine tannins on lingering finish ending with bits of cacao. Give this a few more in the cellar. — 8 years ago
Great dry Riesling. Decent acid and lemon flavor. Strong Riesling typical gasoline smell. — 10 years ago
2003. At first surprisingly sweet smell, and it's followed in the mouth by glycerol-sweetness. It has a nice balance after all, strong acid keeps it fresh. At its top now, but probably still for long. Glass cork. — 11 years ago
