Really blossomed with air and a light chill. Dizzying Nebbiolo perfume: tar, roses, spice, dried flowers, deep dark cherry and melting road tar. The palate has serious concentration and grip, but stays nimble, sapid and elegant, with beautiful tannins right on the edge. Long, clinging finish. Very nice value langhe nebbiolo. Quite classic, starting with the color. Doesn’t have the depth or tannic seamlessness of some pricier wines, but still very well balanced with good fruit and earth and lifting acid. Nice. — 5 years ago

Named after a little creek running between the vineyards and the Villa.
60 % Merlot, 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % Cabernet Franc from vineyards in Bolgheri and Maremma.
12 months in French and American Oak barriques…30 % new.
Deep, dark ruby red.
Red fruit, leather,toasty and herbal on the nose.
Dark plum, tobacco, bay leaf with finely grained tannins with medium acidity and a fresh finish.
This wine definitely punches above its weight.
It’s the little brother.
The big brother is Sor Ugo.

This Chianti needs significant time to breathe before consuming. There is no question it is quite good. But it is not worth its higher price. It is straightforward and well-made, but lacks the typical astringent Chianti bite in the finish. Good cherry flavor, smooth and elegant, but not complex. — 4 years ago
