There are worse ways to start a Saturday then tasting & talking wine with Tor Kenward & Andy Beskstoffer having the 1980 BV George Latour Private Reserve & multiple vintages of Tor. Wine 94 technically but age & style 9.6. The experience a 10.
Beautiful vintage and starting to spread its wings. Ripe, lush, ruby, floral dark currents. Volcanic clay, limestone powder, fresh tobacco w/ ash, dark, florals, round-round acidity, gorgeous, elegant finish with refined polish for days lasting nearly two-minutes.
Andy Beckstoffer sold fruit for $150 a ton in the late 1970’s, early 80’s. Today, $50,000 plus a ton and a percentage of the producers bottle price. — 7 months ago

Dark, brooding, delicious. Round, lush and elegance on top of elegance. Lush, perfectly ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum. Smooth dark spice, dark chocolate, sandalwood, candied, dark, red florals framed in violets & lavender, excellent acidity. Balanced, perfect tension & structure and beautiful elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds.

Wonderful wine. I tried it at their tasting room in 2018 and bought 3 bottles along with some other Tor cabs. I opened a bottle 2 years later and enjoyed it. Friends at my local wine shop were very impressed. I am now opening up a 2nd bottle, which is now 9 years old. It is even better than I remember. The nose is flush with dark fruit especially dark cherries. The palate is dark cherries, blackberries with a hint of anise, chocolate, and leather. It paired well with a choice hanger steak. It also paired well with some Godiva chocolate lava cake truffles. I look forward to opening the 3rd bottle some time in the future and a single vineyard cab. — 8 months ago

Stunning. When To Kalon still had Cline 6. There is no more Cline 6 today in To Kalon.

Apricot, peach and camomile on the nose and palate. Presents regal density and viscosity on the mid palate. Finishes with roasted almonds and soft acidity. Caresses the palate in all the right ways. — 3 months ago
