The Little Kentucky River Winery

Kosta Browne

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim and medium intensity.

Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, light oak, spices, chocolates, dark coffee and peppercorn.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley. Complex with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and fruit forward. Drinking at its peak right now, and a little metallic on the nose.

Robert Parker 93 points. Wine Spectator 92 points.

This 14 year old Pinot Noir is a good sipping wine, that also paired nicely with food.

14.6% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$120.

Drinking 15 vintage. Love the 13 vintage better but the nose on this wine is more robust and more cherry. Very smooth and little to no finish. Delicious! — 7 years ago

Little Hill Pinot Noir 2018

We had a vertical tasting of 2018 and 2020 Little Hill Single Vineyard PN. Both have similar bouquets and palates. Black cherry and minerality. 2020 is a little more floral. 2018 has a more darker tone; and that is good. Both have nice mouthfeels with smoothed out tannins. 2018 is a little more velvety. Both very good. It seems these PN need more time in the bottle — 5 months ago

Art Series Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Sunday Lunch with Roast Lamb. Deep Ruby in colour - very dense. A very Margaret River Cabernet - nose with herbs and a little mint. Barb thought a bit of capsicum (bell pepper) on the nose. On the medium bodied balanced palate the tannins are quite soft yet persistent. Leeuwin Estate better known for its outstanding Art Series Chardonnay has been working hard with the red varieties and it shows. — 9 months ago

I had the chance to taste couple older vintages (01 and 03) and was quite impressed. While price for the Chard is approaching $100 here, the Cab is still very reasonably priced. @Bob McDonald .

@Ming L Yes, the pricing differential between the 2 Cuvées is much the same here in Australia.

Grower-Vintner Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2016

Bright rich Ruby with red fruit aromas and complex spice. On the palate sweet cherry and raspberry flavors, light in body, fine layered spice, cola and oak, a little more pronounced that recent vintages. Soft fine tannins, great mouthfeel, well balanced ending with slight earthy character. Very Nice! Consistent quality. — 7 years ago

Blend from Estate vineyards, 50% from the Mid-40, 40% from the River Block, and balance from Little Hill. Pale lemon color with aromas of white fruits, citrus, vanilla and biscuit scents. On the palate flavors of apple, peach, pear and floral citrus, vanilla notes, well balanced with acidity. Long finish ending with nutty toasty biscuit spice, mineral and citrus notes. Drank with Christmas dinner, with honey baked ham, with brown sugar sweet potatoes. Too fruit forward for me. Overwhelms the other flavors a little. Might be too young. — 2 years ago
