The 15’ bottling sees Petit Verdot leading this Bordeaux blend at 32%, with 26% CS, 26% Merlot, 13% CF, and 3% Malbec.
Complex and deep nose of blackberry, cassis, fig, dry pine cone, dark soy source, butterscotch, thyme, black pepper, with hint of violet. The palate, while delicious and smooth, lacks the depth I expected. Finely grained tannins lead to a long peppery finish.

Deep Ruby, developing aromas of ripe red/black berry fruits, notes of oak, cacao/vanilla spice with slight floral, aged for 26 months in 100% new French oak. On the palate layered flavors of blackberry, black cherry & fig with black pepper, cinnamon & chalkiness. Very fine soft tannins, good structure, balanced well with acidity, long finish, ready to Sip now, ending with a great mouthfeel and sweet spicy fruit character. Decant for an hour to bring out depth, will age well, Very Nice! Tasting Sample! — 4 years ago
2012 Sine Qua Non Rattrapante Estate Grenache. First night of Gail’s BD trip enjoyed at girl and the fig in Sonoma. Outshined the unusual light rain on the patio. Glad they are open Monday’s as not much is. This wine went very well with the food. Perfect match for my duck liver pate and duck confit and Gail’s asparagus soup and chicken thighs. — a year ago
Big props to Girl and the Fig for excellent service including decanting this wine prior to our arrival.
A very extracted deep purple with no signs of Browning.
Relatively tame aromas of deep berry, baking spice, faint black pepper, juniper berry, menthol, red flower. Heady but not overtly alcoholic.
The palate is a different story. Explosive, much more tart, and red fruits. Pomegranate, cranberry, red cherries overlie the gamey, meaty, olive tapenade of Syrah. Dense, chewy, but not heavy or particularly hot. For 15.7% light on its feet. The tannins are never intrusive but provide needed structure along with surprising bright acidity. Finish just goes on and on.
An unforgettable wine that I am glad we got to experience. Not exactly my personal style but really complete and enjoyable. This wine also feels like it’s just hitting its stride. — 3 years ago
Nose has ripe blackberry, fresh black cherry, cherry jam, mashed cherries, toasted anise seed, sweet smokey cedar, cherry liqueur. Rich and beautiful.
Palate has bright black cherry, old milk chocolate, cherry jam reduction, ripe fig, dried fig, black currant jam, moist garden soil, licorice and grape Jolly Rancher candy. Rich palate with mild tannins and long finish. This wine is in an outstanding spot with years ahead of it still, enjoy 2024-26, in proper storage. Decanted 6H.
Paired with pulled pork sandwiches, a Superbowl Sunday tradition for us. A local pork shoulder (Mill River Farm, New Marlborough, MA), dry spice rubbed and rested for 24H, then 10H in the slow cooker; it's just falling apart...so beautiful, our kitchen smells amazing! Garnished with our garden bread & butter pickles, homemade barbeque sauce, pickled red onion and a dash of cilantro, all a worthy combination. — 3 years ago
Rich and mouthfilling, grapey but not raisiny, dark fruits and subtle spice, delightful nose advertising the flavors to come, a tad bit of alcohol on the finish but that’s my fault—I was so eager to drink this beauty that I chose not to decant first. I had the 1995 vintage and it tasted amazingly fresh for a 26-year old bottle. Paired with a flavorful French blue, Fourme d’Ambert, and a Welsh Cheddar, with good bread, toasted walnuts and fig preserves. Bliss. — 3 years ago

Seriously delicious Bordeaux blend from Paarl District, within the Western Cape and Coastal Region, of South Africa 🇿🇦 , produced by Vilafonté @vilafonte
This wine represents a blend of Malbec (37%), Merlot (36%), Cabernet Sauvignon (26%), and Cabernet Franc (1%).
👁 It is deep ruby with garnet rim variation. 👃 👄 It's fresh, plush, and ripe in its fruit expression which includes notes of blackberry, plum, dried cherries, and fig. It offers some vegetal and herbal influences such as bell pepper, freshly cut grass, wet earth; also secondary notes of vanilla, caramel, molasses, oak, sweet baking spices, and some tertiary notes of tobacco. It is dry, with medium acidity, medium(+) body, medium alcohol (13.5%), and high tannins. It has a medium(+) finish.
I'm excited about this wine and eager to further explore this producer and region of South Africa.
Cheers to wine travel!

My first Timorasso. At first a bit dainty & shy on the nose; crushed nectar pits, white flowers, some white peach & artichoke hearts. On palate very textured, like Huet Chenin, but in a parallel universe. Minerally & reserved, this feels like it could go decades more- which is my understanding it can. The aroma notes are echoed on palate, with additional quince & pale fig notes, with a very slight off dry character (overall quite dry). For about 26$ a steal— I guess it’s a hard sell, this Timarosso.. This can either run as a food wine or not, & it’s delicious. — 22 days ago
