Pinard & Filles

Verre de Gris Frontenac Gris Rose 2020

Hybrid grape grown in a lab, optimised for growth in North America, quite muscatel like but very unusual and compelling, light skin contact 🥰 — 19 days ago

Heitz Cellar

Lot C-91 Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

One of my favorite lots from the 2020 #pnv #pnv20 #pnv2020 only 5 cases produced. A small blended selection of our finest Cabernet Sauvignon for Premiere Napa Valley
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from our top sites in the Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford and St. Helena nested appellations
Aging in oak tanks for one year, new French Limousin oak barrels for three years, and then one year in bottle

When the Lawrence family acquired Heitz Cellar in April 2018, they discovered a single dusty bottle in the wine library; a bottle of 1969 Lot C-91 Cabernet Sauvignon. After researching, we discovered wine collectors around the world had a few rare bottles in their cellar as well. Upon learning its origin and Joe Heitz’s inspiration for this singular bottling 50 years prior, we knew that it was time to rekindle the essence of this remarkable cuvée. In order to express the very best of Napa Valley, our winemaker began blending trials of our single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons in barrel, kept separate throughout their élevage. Sampling from barrels of our Oakville, Rutherford, Howell Mountain and St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon, Brittany Sherwood found the perfect marriage of these outstanding standalone wines. After blending, the wine continues to age in 100 percent new, French Limousin oak barrels for three years, followed by aging in bottle for an additional year. With the breadth of estate terroir that Heitz Cellar is fortunate to cultivate, we are able to create the quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon that embodies the elegance, ruggedness, refinement and balance that is uniquely Napa Valley.

Tenuta Sant'Antonio

Scaia Rosato Veneto Rondinella 2020

I’m loving the aromatics on this rosato from Veneto, Italy! 🇮🇹

@lulu_lara_g I can see (and taste) why you enjoyed it so much and agree there is a lot to unpack here! 🤔🧐

It’s comprised of 100% Rondinella grapes, native to Italy. This variety is a common blending partner in the red wines of Valpolicella and Bardolina. 🍇 Here it’s holding its own at center stage with notable florals on the nose, including elderflower, rose, and chamomile, alongside fruit notes of starfruit, cantaloup, raspberry, grapefruit pith, fresh herbal notes of chervil and fennel, and wet stone. 🌹

On the palate, it’s dry, has medium acidity, medium alcohol, and medium intensity in flavors. Flavors are largely consistent with the nose, but I’m also tasting Smarties candies -- both sweet and tart/tangy at the same time. It brings me back.

Imaginador Itata Cinsault 2018

Lovely nose of red fruits and spice. Light-to-medium in body, the palate reveals alluring flavors of strawberry and rhubarb. I always enjoy trying single-varietal wines made from grapes usually used for blending. 100% Cinsault. 10/28/21. — a month ago

Pride Mountain Vineyards

Sonoma County Cabernet Franc 2019

A delicious dark fruit wine. Smooth as silk. I still think of cab franc as a blending wine to give softness and roundness to Cab Sauvignon. — 2 months ago

@Hugh O'Riordan I cannot opine on the post Bob Foley wines but the reserve cab & claret made under his regime always improved with some age.

Frick Winery

C³ Red Rhone Blend 2018

This unique blend is fresh berry cobbler in a glass. Warm strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry flavors burst forth but with nothing that tastes artificial. There is definitely some depth to this wine, but without the heaviness that sometimes results. I love that these three grapes usually reserved for blending with more prominent Rhône varietals have been blended together for once. I will definitely buy another bottle in the future if Bill Frick makes it again! 50% Carignane, 27% Cinsaut, 23% Counoise. 11/8/21. — a month ago

La Jota Vineyard Co.

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

First on the nose hint of flowers. Smooth blending of currants, apple, and fig together with oak and smoke. Rich and thick tannins then unfold and dominate a mildly acidic and long finish. — 2 months ago

Tablas Creek Vineyard

Picardan Paso Robles Vineyard 2020

Super rare Rhone varietal, usually used for blending, but does have a nice, light acidity on its own. Very clean, light lemon and light sugar. Interesting! — 2 months ago
