The 2018 Primitivo Settimo Ceppo displays black cherries, dusty roses and cloves on the nose. The palate is soft and round. Juicy acidity enlivens its red and blue fruits as sour citrus adds contrast. It finishes potent, long and fresh. The Settimo Ceppo is impressive. $20.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, September 2023) — a year ago

Blend of Negroamaro (90%) and Malvasia Nera (10%). Bright ruby color with a distinct brick rim. Aromas of black fruits, roasted meat and purple flowers. Flavors of black cherry, ripe plums and baking spices. Long, earthy and powerful finish. Bone dry, rustic and full bodied. Thanks for opening, Chris B. Revisited in October 2014. Still bright and fresh. Aging beautifully. — 6 months ago
