Dreamy is the word that comes to mind as the 2018 Vigna la Miccia Marsala Superiore Oro wafts up with a decadent blend of roasted almonds and hazelnuts, complicated by gingery spice and baked peaches. This opens with a pretty inner sweetness and oily textures that are perfectly offset by notes of spiced citrus, cloves, cedar and a bitter tinge of coffee grounds. It cleans up beautifully, ridiculously long and staining yet still fresh, leaving hints of cocoa and butterscotch to linger on the finish. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024)

Filagnotti Vino Bianco White Blend 2016

This is a teenager Cortese that decided to become a punk. But its parents accept the whims of the youth. So the rebelling spirit stays tamed. The bouquet is full of spoiled white plums, soaked white flowers, raw dough, kōcha kinoko, smoke, and pickles. To my taste, it lacks acidity (so not sure what destiny awaits this little rebel). Overall it is complex, multilayered, and even has some delicacy. And all these umami flavours (hello, mr Shiitake)! And the aftertaste of ripe, even baked fruits and pickles. Verdicchio di Matelica 2024

One of the most reliable and affordable Verdicchio producer. It used to make just the one label you see here, but now they make another one from young vines and a rose if i am right.
I love the mineral expression of Matelica.
This came from a magnum. It was sensational, too easy too drink. It went so quickly you could miss what you were drinking and you could go back and keep asking...what was it? What was it?what was it?...and on and on and on....
I reckon when people think of a stereotype of good Italian wine this is what we should think of..at least i wish...Cheers!!!
