La Haie Nardin Clos de l'Ecotards Saumur Chenin Blanc 2017

Lyle Fass

Grilled nuts, super dank Chenin feral urgent aromas, fresh, mineral, laserlike and focused. Super lean and stern and stark but long and pure. — 9 days ago

Unfined and Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Last night of magic at our second home. Big and bold. Green pepper and herbs. Will go great with African food. — 3 months ago

Trocken Riesling 2014

Lyle Fass

Lemon pith, minerals and some yeast. Lovely nose. Stark. No fruit. Love it. Palate is chewy and juicy and 100% mineral maybe with some sweet lime and citrus on the finish. Showing super good. — 4 months ago

Villa le Prata

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Wet granite, coconut, balsamic, mushroom, and black cherry aromas and flavors. A little young; acidity is stark and needs a bit to mellow, or at least a good decanting. Well balanced, but lacks length and depth at this time. — 2 months ago

Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon

Clos du Four Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine Chardonnay 2016

For me, a much better tipple than the 16' Uchizy Les Maranches. Showing more elegance and grace. Crisp, salty, and quite powerful. Great value for the price, but perhaps even more so once it gains more complexity with bottle age.

NB: Interesting to note that Clos du Four is consistently Lafon's most mineral Macon site, courtesy of some vine age (> 30 yo) and really poor rocky soils. Also, the site's further south than Les Maranches. What a stark difference!

Haute Ronze Vieilles Vignes Régnié Gamay 2017

Very drinkable and a solid table wine but not a standout, probably because the last Beaujolais I had was the JFD. still an incredible value and would definitely buy again, even if it’s missing the stark contrast of bright fruit + smoke/minerality that makes gamay what it is. — a month ago

Dominio del Aguila

Reserva Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2014

Dark and inky garnet color. Aromas and flavors of smokey vanilla, wet earth, with an herbal note of sage over the top of the black fruits which are still coming through nicely. Super savory and meaty tannins and stark acidity tell me this can age infinitely! — 4 months ago

El Sarrat Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Red Rhone Blend 2015

Saman Hosseini

100% Mourvèdre - has lifted stripped down elegance and lithe structure, with slow building fruit, but there is a stark leather complexity and mineral edge from its forlorn mediterranean landscape. Reminds you of the unadorned, sunwashed, foreboding air of Mario Sorrento’s early 90s Calvin Klein ‘Obession’ campaign with Kate Moss. — 6 months ago
