Not sure why this vintage has received only fair reviews on CellarTracker, but this is a solid bottle of Zinfandel showing rich purple and black fruits, some mild spice and pepper notes, and enough complexity to hold interest. Air seems to help it unfurl a bit. There’s a little alcoholic warmth in the finish, but this is not a jammy zin by any means. The ‘12 was better, but this is quite enjoyable and I’m happy to have another in the cellar. — 4 days ago
Well the pros have it wrong on this one. This is 2014 Gundlach Bundschu cabernet sauvignon from Sonoma. I give it a perfect 9.8 after a 30 min decant! The blackberry and dark currant typical of a big cab is overwhelmingly good. The chocolate and spicy initial palate is to die for. Then the rush of American oak and cigar box lines the foundation of this amazing cab. The finish is dry with a subtle tart tingle on the sides of the tongue. Good grief, I need MORE!!!!!!! — 9 days ago

17yrs in and I am fairly surprised at how elegant this is. I loved the nose on this. Blood orange, crunchy cranberry and old black cherry, with beautiful baking spices. It’s still retaining good acidity, showing cedar, red and black fruits and herbal twang on the palate. Slightly clipped finish, but it’s 17yrs old! Wonderful for its age. With our cheese course.
The shows, Meyer lemon, green apple, golden apple, overripe pineapple juice, kiwi, very ripe stone fruits-apricot dominate, powdery chalkiness, limestone, beeswax, some honey notes, creamy butter, vanilla, shades of caramel, herbal notes, some white spice, yellow flowers, jasmine and lilies with mixed greens.

Bottle 1 of 2 elegant coastal PNs provided by our gracious hosts on Diamond Mountain. Mini 2007 horizontal. Cherry and cranberry still very fresh and lively, but there was a great mushroom earthiness as well, and sweet florals toward the finish. Total balance throughout. — 11 days ago
Deep inky in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, wildflowers, spices, licorice, cloves, black pepper, chocolates and coffee.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, black cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke, light earth and peppercorn.
Spicy finish with fine tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a great California Syrah. Drinking very nicely now, with lots of black fruits and spices.
Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. Well balanced, bold and rich.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and bring out the complexity.
Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years.
13.9% alcohol by volume.
