Cobb

Diane Cobb Coastlands Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

A Coup'la pinots on a Monday afternoon. Trying to figure out what percentage whole cluster this involves, or if it was just the herbal nature of this wine that made it seem so. 12.5% abv, pours rather light. Nose of herbal raspberry and dirty cherry mixed with a spicy character. The entry is lighter yet bright acidity is present. Dirty bing cherry, hint of cola, herbal, whole cluster appears in the middle and finish. Really neat wine and probably ready to go just about now. Quite nice structure, and I feel that this will probably hold another decade or so because of it. — 5 days ago

Lol @Bill Bender -- remarkably my liver is hanging on nicely. If I didn't drink, my job would have already caused my heart to explode. Anticoagulation, baby!!

I like that analysis Dr. Flesher! I think I need to get a prescription for that type of anticoagulation treatment!

A very interesting and different presentation. Muted nose of light oak. Palate is like a chameleon. It has all of the elements for champagne - without the bubbles. Mid palate presents, ocean and salinity. Well balanced with good acidity. Finishes with almonds and butterscotch. This will cellar for a few more years, but may not evolve to a better place. — 6 days ago

Durell Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

Big day of wine! Grand Reserve tasting at Total followed by steak night.

Always a blast drinking a wine from Weston. His Durrell Chard is fantastic in imparting a nutty, apricot & peach driven palate.

Rivers-Marie

Silver Eagle Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

This is a big wine. Although it does not have the luscious fruit characteristic of the 2015, it has arguably more brambly young acidic raspberry fruit in the front and middle. As close to full bodied as it gets. A little bit of mint in the middle. Finishes with some oak and baking spice. This is a bit closed off IMO and still think these will benefit from time in the bottle. Really nice but still think I'm in love with the 15 vs the 16 or 17. — 2 days ago

Surprised at how well this was holding up (when comparing to the ‘09 I had last year). Plenty acidity. Lots of pineapple and white peach notes accompanied by chalky limestone and some herbal notes. I didn’t pick up a lot of savory notes like I have on other older Kistlers (like sea salt/popcorn kernel). I even picked up some green apple on the mid palate showing that this particular bottle has plenty of life ahead. — 8 days ago

Certainly not over oxidized, but definitely an oxidized character here. This one is definitely starting its descent down the hill, but is still pretty far up. The nose initially was showing some butter and cotton candy. But the wine still has medium weight peach and ripe pear notes. I was still getting this little cotton candy type of thing in the finish with a little bit of crushed rock. Very low acidity. Seemed actually quite delicate and still showed really good balance. Subtle, but actually showing quite well today.

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016

I like this a lot. High-toned red and blue fruit. Bright and crunchy. A bit of richness in the mid-palate with a hint of vanilla or root beer. The finish is nice, but not particularly long. Excellent AVA-level bottling. — 2 days ago

Flowers Vineyard & Winery

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2015

A deep ruby color with a wide brim. A huge burst of fruit on the nose consisting of raspberries, wild strawberries, and pomegranate with cedar notes bringing up the rear. This is a very deliberate Pinot. Showing a consistent profile through the vintages, it’s a really nice juxtaposition of delicate fruit and a full body with firm tannins. A bit of elegance on the palate with more nice red fruit, baking spice, toasted cedar, and lavender. This is such a nice representation of this style of Pinot, it really is quite well done. — 7 days ago

Medium pale golden yellow. Rich and layered nose coated with pineapple, toasted, baked apples, lemon curd and a little nutty. Full bodied with well balanced acidity (6/10). Lush and lively palate with crisp lemon zest, some spices, brioche and a little tropical. Long finish with weight and life in it. Lovely wine and cannot wait to try more! Drink till 2024. — 5 days ago

My first time having Maybach’s Chardonnay. Very good. Lots of lemon oil, cream, honeysuckle and honeyed tropical fruits. Rich without being over the top. Some crushed oyster shell notes at the finish. I’d like to try a younger vintage to see how these drink early on. — 12 hours ago

Geyserville Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend 1994

Definitely still in its drinking window, As is often said to be the case with older zin & zin blends, however, it’s more like a claret than a zinfandel. Subdued fruit notes are woven with earth, button mushroom, and black tea, atop silky smooth tannins. Just a wisp of spice on the close. A nice way to start off a few 25th anniversary year wines. — 6 days ago
