Trader Joe’s. Long gone! For 15$ quite good! This is the 2019 - one of the best vintages in Piedmont. So - in this case even lousy cheapo wineries made great wine. Tastes like 40$. Roses, super astringent, violets. Hint Eucalyptus. A little rough: Bought a case most gone should have bought 2 - will age the last 3 bottles just out of curiosity - could go another 5-10 years. Thanks Scott for this find!!! — 2 years ago

Drinking with Mom and Dad for Christmas 2022. Doing a side-by-side with their standard 2019. Color is also garnet, but more brown around the edges than its younger pair. Legs are also more intense, and the nose is so much more powerful. The dark leather, the tobacco, the currant, and the cacophony almost smacks your nose. The berries seem to have mellowed into the darker bouquet of elemental scents. Much smoother than its younger pair, the bright juice is now a wave of those foundational scents. The flavor lingers longer, it has a subtle transformation that holds onto your tongue, in place of that rough sandpaper feeling you are left with in the younger, you are left with something like the feeling of wiping off perspiration, being cool and dry, but with the endless flow from within that doesn't leave you gasping for water. Truly one of the best of this appellation I have ever had. Would drink again, although it was $69 at Blanchards. — 4 years ago
Rough week. Needed something good — 5 years ago
Worth the wait. It did not disappoint! Seems to be a wine many keep waiting for and I was hesitant to rush on this but couldn’t resist any longer. I thought it was fantastic. No rough edges to be found. I think this baby is more than ready to be enjoyed! Currants, earth notes, and subtle mature fruit. Consumed over about 5.5 hours and decanted in a magnum decanter. It was very good in the first hour and fantastic by the fourth where I personally think it peaked. Thankfully, I have one more bottle for the future! — 5 years ago
Ink, plum, pencil, forest fruits, tannins still present, but pleasantly and finely rough, they predict a pretty future. Firm and somewhat stubborn too. Red, grilled peppers. — 7 months ago
Fruity up front with a smooth finish — 4 years ago
51% CF, 49%ME. Enjoyed the wine & blend. For me, these wines are a bit rough when young but smooth out nicely with age. — 4 years ago
Stood up to grilled ribeye with ease. Pretty dense and powerful. Better on day 2. Nice blend - a bit rough around the edges. CF offers nice spice on the palate. — 5 years ago
Cooked blackberries, with subtle cherry, and blueberry aroma. Bouquet of espresso/black tea and chocolate, with black pepper spice and subtle sage and oak. Dry, medium plus tannin. — 6 years ago
No rough edges on this 2016 Gigondas drunk and early 2025. Surprised how flexible it was with several contrasting foods. An excellent bargain at $25 — a year ago
Very nice. Has medium finish - not soft or big, just nice. — 2 years ago
Notes of plum, earth, soy sauce. I thought tannins were still fairly pronounced but not rough. Lovely pairing with our smoked abalone and black cod….. — 3 years ago
Enjoyable and quite different from California cab. Somewhat dry and tight but does open up. A nice change from a country we don’t see too many wines from. — 4 years ago
Love this wine every year. Great nose and palate of white flowers, honey/honeysuckle, stones, a hint of tropical fruit and some underripe nectarine. So easy to drink and great qpr. — 5 years ago
Rough label, so we had to pop the cork. This is effortless drinking, but $90 isn’t cheap and there are some incredible Grower Champagne options for $30 less. But lovely color and uncomplicated sipping. — 6 years ago

Nose is a 10. Mouthfeel and finish don’t match. Tannins a little rough. — 12 days ago
