My favorite! Love bourbon and wine....what's better than wine fermented in a bourbon barrel?! Absolutely nothing! Full body flavor that is smooth to the pallet. — 8 years ago
Aged for a year in Pappy barrels. Surprisingly good! — 8 years ago
WNH Southern gathering hosted by @Mike R and old Heitz vertical (70,74,85) sourced by @Martin G Rivard (from Benchmark) who also contributed some on his own dime. This ‘70 started with a wet cardboard musty nose and a slightly hollow mid palate and astringent finish. As the evening evolved and the steak showed up the wine did a complete 180. More tannins than fruit but it was a structured beauty that may not be at it’s peak but is still a gorgeous wine. Ripe plum, stewed fig, bayleaf. I didn’t get any eucalyptus from this but there’s a strong earthy, old world with a CA spin vibe. After dinner and before the fire pit some of us finished the decanter of this and were impressed at how it was still ascending hours after being opened. — 9 years ago
Very shy nose. Whiff of peach and banana. Full and generous palate. Nectarine and beeswax. Smooth and supple but the structure and acid poke their head out with air. VG with Gambas/paprika/garlic. With R on my bday weekend. — 3 years ago

Exceptional CD-R. One of the best I’ve had. — 7 years ago
Part 1 of the final and main event for the Fall WNH. The most spectacular lineup of wines I’ve ever seen, and an overall wonderful ending to an amazing trip with fantastic people.
En mag and insane. So ripe and rich...and definitely young! Wow. Baked blueberry pie, fresh squeezed blackberries, cassis, and dark cocoa on the nose. Massive on the palate with dark fruit, licorice, and dates. Only toward the end did I get an herbal spice on the finish. Probably the best CdP I’ve ever tasted. Killer, @Mike R ! — 8 years ago
Strong alcohol on the nose even after an hour of decanting but flavours excellent - heavy on cherries, light mouthfeel. Paired well with spicy pork tenderloin. From BB&R tasting event. — 8 years ago

Copying @Ron R ...
Funky open with a bite.
Calmed to a cranberry, white pepper, with some herbal notes- dill? Spice and pepper persists on the palate with tangy cranberry and and orange rind. Tannins need a bit more softening. But overall, quite fine.

Best Spanish red I have ever had. Full bodied, not dry, rich earthy tones. Would definitely buy again — 7 years ago
@Mike R brought this beauty to the heart of Eastern North Carolina and it was the perfect fit for a humid southern evening. Very bright and crisp, with a smidgen of green pippin apple. I think this is Cardinale’s maiden SB voyage and we were all smiles. — 8 years ago

Fantastic wine, aged nicely after sitting on it a bit too long. Barrel forward but not unpleasant. Nice chocolate, vanilla, toffee and a hint of leather/tobacco. Nice dark fruit presence from the grapes bring it all together into a really nice drinking wine. Would absolutely drink this again if I see it. — a year ago
