Oak. Leather. Smoke (could also be the charcoal bbq, verdict is still out on where the smoke is coming from).
Big and complex.

Made from low yielding 90-year old vines, deep Ruby with aromas of red/black fruits and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with cacao, black pepper and floral citrus. Firm tannins on a long finish ending with fruit and mineral character. Nice but needs a few years in big the bottle!! — 6 years ago
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing red and black fruits with light wood, spices, chocolates, herbs and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
Elegant and nicely balanced. Complex and interesting.
Still young and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and a good food wine too.
A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. Aged in new French oak barrels for 24 months.
14% alcohol by volume.
89 points.

Final night of the cruise dinner in Le Bistro. Might be the first time we went with seafood dishes and a white wine! No Bordeaux Blanc on the included wine list so we went for a familiar grape/region. Weighty on the palate with citrus, salinity, and floral notes. Damn good for a free bottle! — 8 months ago
Very tasty aged Portuguese red. If I had it blind, I would guess Northern Spanish - Ribera del Duero or Rioja. Smooth and slightly musty/earthy from the age (got some cork crumbles). Opens pretty quickly, with concentrated red fruit and some blackberry. Pleasant tannic grip with a soft texture. Bold flavor throughout, big body (14.5% abv), some pepper and dry grass on a savory finish. Nice for a reasonable price. — a year ago
Had this at chef Avillez’s Bairro in Lisbon’s Chiado neighborhood. First time trying a Dao DOC wine, and it was splendid. Medium bodied, dark fruit and peppery. A nice contrast to the lighter vino verde’s I’ve had a lot of in Portugal. A bottle of this in front of me would be dangerous. — 3 years ago
Recommendation from Pam - really enjoyed it, needed time to open up but once it did it was delicious. Dark fruit, medium tannins, black tea — 5 years ago
Super soft and refreshing. Notes of guava. Good harmonization with fish and seafood. — 6 years ago
