It was tight. Decant for 4 hours or out into a vitamix and pulse — 6 years ago
Tasted with Gianfranco Soldera @ Case Basse. A paradigm changing visit. I can say this with confidence, no other winemaker on the planet has their finger on the pulse like Gianfranco. A man who is 1000% invested in his land that produces profound sangiovese. — 8 years ago
2001 Feudi Serpico
even though a 2001 this wine was super tight and closed. gigantic tannin structure and not much else. I quadruple decanted it and got a pulse. I put it aside for 24 hours and I had a beautiful living breathing wine. how crazultly is that. go knows when it will be ready to drink but I would guess another 10 years. if you are willing to open it a day or even two before you drink it you will be rewarded. that is the good news. — 8 years ago
Wednesday Wine Committee from this past week. A fantastic hosting by @joe leatherwood . 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind as usual.
Not familiar with this producer. Since I don’t have much context to go on, it’s hard to get a pulse on typical profile, but when comparing to the other 2000 Bordeauxs in the lineup, this seemed much older. Old baked fig, cocoa dusted dates, scorched black plum and pipe tobacco. Aged funk on the palate with leather, dried black cherries, and an herbal finish. A touch syrupy too. I called this old Brunello. — 5 years ago
clarion call for consumption. deeply stony pez pulse. reminds me of a photograph of fire. — 5 years ago
Wine snobs should look away...
Such a fun wine, particularly since we are not big on Malbec. It’s dark and forbidding. Decadent nose of blackcurrants and fig paste. Lithe on the palette. Good tannins with lively acidity, finishing sweet. The Wagners have their finger firmly on the mass consumers pulse. Great wine and background story. — 7 years ago
Ron R
I recently visited the brewery in Brooklyn, NY. They were out of my fave IPA, but this represents a reasonable proxy.
It’s a double, but the alcohol is submerged by a moderate citrus and sweet finish. This husband and wife partnership are doing good things. — 2 years ago
