🙈 tasting 3rd wine
at wset level 2 course (5th meeting)
1st of a grenache couple.
had quite a few grenache blends but I'm a true novice, so no guesses yet.
red cherry, red plum, herbs, liquorice and some oak spices 👃
mostly raspberry, 🍒 and liquorice 👄
made well but no serious complexity. — 5 hours ago
I love this wine and it gets better each year as the vines get older. It’s a 60/40 Grenache - Carignan blend aged in oak for 17 months. Grenache vines are 20 years old. The wine is fresh with lively acidity - Red fruit leads to notes of violets with a chalky minerality underneath. Medium- bodied, long finish. Evolves in the glass. 2017 vintage on Dec 15, 2019 — 8 days ago
Obviously European on the nose. I could pick this as French in a blind tasting and be wrong. Medium bodied and ready to drink - soft resolved tannins. Savoury with a little barnyard - just the right amount. Punching way above its price of $45. Very good value for a Priorat from Alvaro Palacios. Loved this wine with an aged T Bone and will look for more of it. — 10 days ago
Definitely better on the second day, which is odd for a white. Pale in colour. Quite shy initially but opens up to reveal lots of spice and complexity, wrapped around the melon core of garnatxa blanca. Delicious though they are not giving it away at €18. — 7 days ago
Great white wine in a great place. A recent opened restaurante called Al Marge, located in Badalona (close to Barcelona) has an incredible list of wines, including some of the jewels coming from Priorat, like the wines produced by Terroir al Limit. — 14 days ago
This screams dried figs. Not like fig newtons - actual well made dried figs. Damn, that’s a mouth watering scent. In the mouth though it’s dark cherries, licorice, and a subtly soft spice. Spend some time getting to know this one. It’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship. — 2 hours ago
