The Blend Apalta Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Tuesday night and tonight I have opened the 2015 Primus "The Blend" Apalta of Colchagua, Chile. This is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 24% Carménère, 8% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose there is black cherry, black raspberry, black plum, black currant, chocolate, baking spice, green peppercorn, graphite and earth.

On the palate is black cherry, raspberry, plum, black currant, green bell pepper, herbs, pencil shavings, vanilla and earthy notes

This wine is full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + fine rounded tannins that is fully balanced with a medium long elegant dark fruit seamless finish. A beautifully stylish wine that would go well with any nice savory meal. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping healthy. Please continue to practice social distancing and wear your mask until we know this thing is well controlled. Has a great rest of the week and into the 4th of July weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Primus Maipo Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The nose was quite complex for a bottle in the price range, opening up with cassis, raspberry, bell pepper, and light barnyard, then turned to incense, vanilla, cured meat, and mint. The entry was soft yet bright, with fig and spice coming on strong on the mid palate. Fine elegant tannins.
This Primus is in its prime.

Good to know. The Neyen label reminds me of the labels on the bottling from Antiyal, another Chilean winery I likes very much. Cheers @David T !

We went there as well. It was a big day for them the day we were there. They were getting trained on their bottle labeler...all quite excited. They were definitely tired of manually applying labels. Great couple, great site, all biodynamic and very nice reds. We have some vintages we are still waiting on.

Wow! I would love to have a trip like that. I had their 12’ and 13’ red. Very well made.

Pouco Comun Primus Inter Pares Rosé Blend 2019

Interesting little Vino Verde. Some skin contact makes it a Rose’. Fruit forward (apple) but reasonably dry. Typical VV low alcohol and effervescence. Easy drinking and refreshing. Thanks Chris! — a month ago

CC Pachyderm Rosé of Pinot Noir 2019

No. 997
Pale salmon color. Aromas of strawberry, white peach, and Granny Smith Apples. Bright wine! Nectarine and rose petals on the palate. Listening to Tales from the Punch Bowl. Primus Sucks!

Candied cherries aromas. Good persistance. Heavy and elegant at the same time. But it lacks some minerality and complexity. — a month ago
