Block 1 Tasmania Pinot Noir 2021

This Pinot won the 2022 Australian Pinot Challenge for Australia’s Best Pinot Noir. It firstly won best Pinot in Tasmania before beating all the other State winners to win best in Australia. Proving yet again what a fabulous terroir the Coal River is for Pinot Noir. Owned by cardiologist Professor David Kilpatrick and tended to by highly regarded Tasmanian viticulturalists Mark Hoey and Max Marriott and made by neighbouring winemaker Anna Pooley. This wine achieves the trifecta of latent power, energy and elegance. One of the first sites to use the Dijon 777 clone. It is medium body with dark cherry and whole bunch notes with M+ intensity. A worthy winner. — 2 months ago

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2018

Mid Ruby in colour. Autumnal notes. Sous Bois. Nice sweet succulent red fruits. Supple gentle tannins. An accredited well known producer from the proven Pinot Noir district of the Coal River Valley in Tasmania. Will be drinking well right through to the end of this decade. Next bottle in 2 or 3 more years. — 2 years ago

Pinot Noir 2018

My 2nd last 2018 Pooley Pinot Noir. Pale Ruby in colour, tawny shades almost transparent. The colour appears to have become paler with age - a characteristic I haven’t seen before. On the palate evidence of whole bunch in the ferment - herbal, stalky amid the red fruits. The pale colour belies the palate intensity. Coal River is becoming part of Tasmanian Pinot Royalty. — 8 months ago

Butcher's Hill Pinot Noir 2018

Such a vibrant Pinot! Visited in 2019 and brought this home, still very fresh and juicy, but lots of layers and complexity with a slightly herbaceous mid-palette. Divine! — 9 months ago

Coal River Valley Pinot Noir 2018

Very identifiable as Tasmanian Pinot - this one from the Coal River and the high performing Pooley Wines. Last tasting note here was way back 153 weeks ago. Red fruited - drinking this early in its drinking window. Light to medium weight - lovely Tassie purity. Fine tannins. — 3 years ago
