Beautiful lemon and honeysuckle nose. On the palate petillant lemon, honey, elderflower with hints of white flower and a citrus yeasty finish. Wow! — 10 years ago

Il Ritrivo in Positano. Decanted for 45 min. Dark purple and opaque. Powerful nose. Notes of roses, dark wood, some tar, currants and a little bit of anise. Rich in the mouth. This has big broad shoulders compared to the 13 Monprivato next to it which is dainty and subtle. Gained complexity in the glass over the night. Would love to try this again on 20 years to see where it lands. Much potential ahead for this. — 7 years ago

At Il Portico, a quaint little spot in the Jewish Ghetto. Packed with locals, we were here in January and promised we'd come back. I didn't think it would be later this year! I love Primitivo. None of the earthiness of the Brunello we'll dive into next (which we'll love) and loads of fruit. Just like its cousin from California, Mr. Zin. Smooth! — 9 years ago

One of the best langhe nebbiolos I’ve had recently, especially for a relatively reasonable price on the list at Leon’s. And a great pairing with pork braciole as well. Lots of fruit, but still quite refined, with great texture and acid. Quite pretty and delicious. — 3 months ago
