Nice raspberry and strawberry flavours with good balance of tannins. Surprisingly delicious! — 4 years ago
This is Penfolds best expression for Pinot Noir being made from fruit sourced in the Adelaide Hills, Henty and Tasmania. Just had a glass with the entree. Mid crimson in colour with a tawny brown rim. Aromas and flavours in the stewed red fruit spectrum. Soft tannins - drinking well now. — 5 years ago
Nice and fresh & crisp. Sweet enough but not too sweet. Nice easy wine to drink — 6 years ago
2007 - already 13 years old under screw cap. Delightful aged Riesling. Still retains beautiful perfume and acid. — 6 years ago
Herbal aromas (typically Margaret River) with Geranium Capsicum and a touch of menthol. Some green notes - medium weight. Savoury wins out over Cassis and black fruits. Not in the upper echelon of Margaret River Cabernet. Just a silver medal. We went to the Cellar Door some years ago and the story goes that the Reserve Cab was served at the wedding of Prince Frederick of Denmark to Sydney Real Estate agent Mary Donaldson originally from Tasmania now Crown Princess Mary and one day will become the Queen of Denmark. Fred is a keen sailor who was representing Denmark at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and they met at Sydney hotspot The Slip Inn where Fred was flashing his Black AMEX so the story goes and was captivated by Mary and the rest is history. — 7 years ago
Lots of fruit but body and complexity — 7 years ago

Very good Chardonnay. Tasmania? Who know? Gotta go. — 3 years ago
Deep Ruby in colour. Cherry, red fruits generally, stems and a Jujube confectionery note. Intense red fruits on the medium bodied palate. Lovely texture and mouthfeel - sweetish. So obviously delicious it is difficult to look beyond anything else. From Australia’s most southerly vineyard in the Huon Valley south of Hobart. Visited there a few years ago with the family and had a lovely lunch. This wine won the Trophy for Best Pinot Noir at the Australian Cool Climate Wine Show in 2014 - and one can see why. — 6 years ago
This nose is big, and wafty.
Cinnamon and Blackberry, wrapped in freshly risen yeast.
A hint of a sweet, yet in a pie spice way, blackberry twigs and branches, touches of fireplace, and a harmonious relationship between the oak, and long live the acid!
Central Otago are my favorite Pinot’s as well as Tasmania. Perfect climate. — 7 years ago
Enjoyed in resto with beef — 8 years ago
See previous note from August 2022. The epitome of a modern Australian Chardonnay - struck match sulphidic notes with cool climate fruit from choice vineyards In Tumbarumba, Tasmania and the Adelaide Hills. White stone fruit and citrus with mineral characters and low acid. Not for long keeping but delicious right now and for a few years. — 3 years ago
When in Rome do as the Romans. Currently on Bruny Island south of Hobart and enjoying the local bounty like Oysters and Fish and this lovely Pinot Noir from Pooley who are in the Coal River district. Lovely aromatics of dried red and black cherry with a whole bunch influence. A light to medium weight palate. — 5 years ago
Yep last night was a 2 bottle night 🙊 It was too hard to resist the urge as it was Pinot Noir Day after all.
I received this bottle of Tassie Pinot as a lovely gift from a wonderful lady I’ve done some work with in Perth (thank you Sheree!). She gave it to me over a year ago, but I got pregnant 🤰 before I had time to open it. So I’ve been waiting for the right moment to crack it now that the bub 👶 is here.
It’s a 2017 Pinot Noir from the Huon Valley (south of Hobart) made by Sailor Seeks Horse. Swipe across to see all the juicy info on the back label.
Sailor Seeks Horse is owned and operated by Paul & Gilli Lipscombe who studied in Margaret River and have worked in vineyards in France, Oregon and New Zealand. Their love is Chardonnay & Pinot Noir (my kind of people!).
So I pulled out my Pinot specific Riedel glass last night and got stuck in.
Beautiful! So worth the 12 month wait! From the garnet shade in the glass to the gorgeous aromas of plums, cherries and herbs. I was in love! In the mouth it’s beautifully balanced with red & black fruits coming through and juicy acidity. Elegant and delicious 🍷

Quite pale Lemon considering its age. Funky solids musty aromas. Medium bodied medium acid with grapefruit notes on palate and reasonable length. A good Chardonnay from this premium Adelaide Hills producer. From cousins Shaw and Smith - Michael Hill-Smith was Australia’s first Master of Wine. Have spread their wings to Tasmania with the premium Tolpuddle. — 7 years ago

As previous Delectable notes. Still whole bunch notes with an aromatic red fruited perfume. A luscious texture in the mouth with great length. From the most southerly vineyard in Australia. Typical of the terroir of the d’Entrecasteaux channel south of Hobart. Similar to its illustrious neighbour, Home Hill Estate. — 2 years ago
