Medium light salmon pink . Lightly red fruited , strawberry, raspberry , creamy notes as well, touch of baked bread . Some cranberry and redcurrant hints . On the palate quite rounded and fruited , red currant and cranberry , slight toasty , mineral note on the finish . Quite high , piercing acidity , good extract and length . The colour of pink copper. Consistent fine bead with aromas of strawberry, honey dew melon, hint of beeswax. 100% Pinot Noir. As Jancis commented “like a Volnay in its perfume and delicacy but as substantial as fine red burgundy “. Could not see the point in further cellaring given how good this is now and already 17 years old, even if the window by JR is to 2027. A combination celebration of wedding anniversary and farewell to the children returning overseas. It’s all happening!! PS The photo shows the back light on turned on with a switch in the punt of the bottle giving a sexy pink glow. Blend of Grenache (34%), Barbera (32%), Counoise (16%), Mourvèdre (14%) and 4% other assorted red grapes. Light salmon pink color. Aromas of citrus fruits, red berries and white flowers. Flavors of strawberries, raspberries, orange, green melon, grapefruit and lemon. Lovely hint of salty and chalky minerality on the finish. Creamy texture (lees contact?) and very crisp acidity. Color is a beautiful, almost unnaturally reddish pink, cloudy and hazy. On the nose you get apple cider, watermelon, candied grapefruit and bubblegum. On the palate it's fairly dry with low acid and some of the notes on the nose are lost. It's mostly green apple, mango, peaches and some yeast. No funk from natural processes and incredibly refined for being unfiltered. On the finish you do get a bit of dried herbs. Pretty energetic bubbles like soda pop. — 3 years ago
