Felton Road

Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2010

Well, it took me an extra day to fully enjoy it, also too in order to make vanish the clear sensations of the 2 pinots I drank just yesterday and the day before which were delicious
Unfortunately I keep comparing them
Day 1: Felton Rd was so much fleshier, even a little hot. I know it had to be different, but in the comparison it definitely lacked elegance, harmony and enjoyment. Though it had personality
Day 2:another wine, fully enjoyable, very defined, focus, pleasant. Not hot anymore. Still thousands of kms away from Burgandy, like it should be (but also so apart from others Central Otago pinots)
More than decent after taste

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2008

Pizza and wine Saturday. This bottle was still 2/3 rd full by the end. Least favorite from the crew. Second label for ornellaia is usually sound but this bottle was dry, lacking the fruit with more of tar and smoke. — 9 years ago

I am freaking out about this vermentino. Rush of grassy lemon, on the front end, diving on to a soft pillow finish. Nom! — 9 years ago

Guerrieri Gonzaga

Terre di San Leonardo Vigneti Delle Dolomiti Red Bordeaux blend 2007

Fantastic super Tuscan in the beginning of its window. Grip and tannins are still there but very well integrated. Classic Italian nose and taste profile of dried herbs, leather, on a backbone of dense red and black fruit. Brings the funk, as it should, and a great find at the Weston rd Lcbo — 10 years ago

Calvert Pinot Noir 2007

Central Otago at its best. Such pleasure and complexity and length . After Burgundies best pinots in the world are produced here and Felton Rd is the best at the moment but it is exciting other producers are coming quickly after it. ✌️✌✌ — 10 years ago

TX RD Texas High Plains Red Blend 2019

The first of 3 bottles from a tasting gifted to Nellie. Medium ruby in color; cherries, cedar, and tabacco on the nose; high acidity; high tannins; tastes like eucalyptus, red currants, and red plums with a long finish. It needed to breath for about 30 minutes. I bet it would be great with a little more age as well. Nellie likes it. I do too. — a year ago

Andrew Murray

Tous les Jours Santa Ynez Valley Syrah 2017

Great value! Founder Andrew Murray’s Vineyards is a 200-acre site, about 1,500 feet above Foxen Canyon Rd, inland portion of the Santa Ynez Valley, making the vineyard the highest in the county. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, "Tous les Jours" means “every day,” shows dark red with black fruit aromas and complex spice notes. On the palate, blueberry and black cherry with spicy cedar notes and some oak, Soft tannins, long finish. Very nice, did I say great value! — 6 years ago

Ladera Vineyards

Pillow Road Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Love everything Ladera produces. Still one of the great value Napa wineries. This Chardonnay looks like a toasted heather hue in the glass with notes of apricot, honeysuckle and white stone fruits. Just enough acidity to enjoy with a hearty meal or light bites. Not a porch pounder. Give this 2019 a little chill and the long finish will let you enjoy it all night. — 3 years ago

Bloody Hill Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2019

Sage and white pepper on the nose. Silken lingonberry and morello cherry and strawberry pop tart filling. Absolutely seductive, I’m interested in his whole bunch stuff cause this texture is a memory foam pillow — 6 years ago

Okay, how many 100% Petit Verdot's can you remember???? French style nose opens massive plum and cherry flavors. After all that one word defines this wine "soft"!!! It's like laying your head on a soft pillow after a long day, if that makes any sense at all. Trinchero should be really proud of this wine and for taking a risk! — 9 years ago

Really quite fine. Subtle melange of red grapefruit pith, honeydew, kiwi, and underripe papaya. There's a methol-herbaceous veneer across the wine, but none of the obnoxious asparagus water or jalapeño notes that characterize more clumsy pyrazine management. While the 14.5% alcohol will be too much for some, there's a great texture that comes from it. And hey, there are more than a few vintages of the Cotats and a few Dagueneau wines that are 14%+...Just a pillow of low toast, well-integrated oak and creamy (malo?) texture. I weirdly could maybe use more oak because of how vibrant the fruit is... — 10 years ago
