Alvear

Pedro Ximenez de Añada 2011

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of one week. The 2011 pours a deep, burnt sienna color with a near opaque core; high viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of dried dark fruits: sukkari dates, fig jam, Nutella, Gebrannte Mandeln (those German candied nuts that are so delicious). On the palate, the wine is sweet with medium- acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and almost cloying but thanks to the complexity and balance, it works. Like a boozy liquid, high quality Christmas fruitcake (if such a thing existed), this can only be appreciated in small portions otherwise you’ll be diabetic in no time. Well stored examples can be enjoyed now and over the next 100+ years (that’s probably a conservative estimate). — 8 days ago

Jessie James Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

Excellent really. Sweet Pinot Fruit. Cherry 🍒 mostly. Just 13.5%. Very refined. Like a Burgundy at a much better price point. Planted in 1996 to Pommard, Wadenswil and 114. Dry farmed! Needs at least 2 hours of air. Teanotes, … fresh! In my book one of the top 10 Pinots in the US. — 2 months ago

Château Gloria Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Reliable, delicious, and reasonable. Slightly on the fruitier end of the Bordeaux spectrum - gorgeous blackberry, plum and cassis, balanced by delicious chocolate, exotic tobacco, and good spice. Good acidity provides incredible length. Always amazing for the price. — 3 months ago

Synthesis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Consistently good Cabernet Savignon w/ a little Merlot, also Napa.

When your fruit is sourced from Oak Knoll district, Rutherford, Mount Veeder, Diamond Mountain District, Stags Leap District, and Howell Mountain, the result should be excellent and flavorful. It is.

Imaginador Itata Cinsault 2020

Give this one a proper 1.5 hour decant, tight, needs to relax. Also deserves proper wine glass, I used a glass tumbler.

Enjoying by the glass, it was fun to witness it unfold. Tight, earthy, tannic, and not very expressive at the beginning, later a floral and raspberry note showed up in the nose. Earthy on the pallet.

9.1 for my experience, could achieve 9.3 with proper handling.
