Les Jalets Crozes Hermitage Syrah 2015

An intoxicating nose - savoury earthy and mineral with spicy black fruits. The medium bodied palate shows black plums - flesh and skins, a note of liquorice finishing with fine gravelly tannins. Barb was convinced this was Australian when tasted blind. — 4 days ago

La Maison Bleue Hermitage Syrah

Nice…we ate this with a nice marbley New York strip, and mashed potatoes with lemon zest. The wine went very nicely and cleansed the palette and then brought us back to wanting to take the next sip. A very nice burgundy, not dry but not to jammy. Good fruit (cherry), slight acid, good finish. I would like it rounder, but truly just right! — 2 months ago

Domaine de Thalabert Crozes-Hermitage Syrah

Tannic initially, but better after some time in a decanter. Dark inky blackberry flavor and wonderful structure and body. — a month ago

Les Jumelles Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2018

Dark ruby; supple nose of small black and red berries, lightly fried bacon, pound cake, violets, alkaloids, and some new oak; fresh minty with medium acids on the taste and just so darn good, the balance between power and elegance skewed towards the latter. Dutch cheeses accompanied this twin-wine. — 2 months ago
