From magnum. This was the first vintage of Patz & Hall “Alder Springs Vineyard” Chardonnay. At the point of blending a flicker of original youthfulness with otherwise fully matured Chardonnay flavors. This is why we drink older wines. Rich, complex spice and toast, notes of tangerine, beeswax, dried apple, caramel, wildflower, sea breeze, exotic perfume, kiwi, crushed rock. A moderate yellow color. I was there when the grapes were picked. Short of help, we all pitched in to harvest. A miracle. — a month ago
Mild red fruit with some structure — 20 days ago
Nice and balanced Chardonnay with golden apples, fat peels of lemon, some orange zest, cream, butter and very refined touch of vanilla. Nice acidity and not too heavy. — 2 months ago
Opulent. Buttered popcorn, lemon curd and asian pear with an oily mouth feel. Round. Maintaining some acid with a bitter note on the finish, pretty classic California Chardonnay flavor profile. — a month ago
2015 vintage still has boysenberry & plum notes, with soft tannins from aging 9 years. Hints of dark chocolate and coffee with slight hints wet stone — 14 days ago

It’s a shame they don’t make wines like this any more — 2 months ago

Older and a bit past its peak but still delicious. Patz & Hall no longer sources from the Hudson vineyard so this was great to revisit. — 21 days ago
